Body of Essay

Water is one of the most basic necessities for survival just as is oxygen for all humans and animals on Earth. Our Earth is made up of 70% water which earns itself the name, the “Blue Planet" as water appears blue from space. The uses of water are not limited to drinking but also for a wide range of other purposes like washing, cleaning, production of electricity and a lot more. But due to misuse of water, it is getting polluted because of our own deeds. This has created many problems for humans and animals alike.

Due to plastic pollution in water bodies, marine life like tortoises and seagulls often choke on them and die of suffocation. This is creating an imbalance in nature.

Out of all the water that is available on Earth, most of it is too salty and unfit for drinking. Only 1% of the water available is fit for drinking which is coming under threat due to water pollution and droughts in several places. Many urban nationals are going to face a severe water crisis in about 10 years.

Water is also used in the agricultural sector apart from household uses such as cleaning, washing, drinking, etc. In the agricultural sector, feeding and maintaining livestock, and for crop production, water are highly essential.

Even in industries, water is used in the manufacturing and production of several goods which use the water available for us.

The dumping of waste materials has added to the woes of water pollution. Factories, households and livestock dump wastes in water that could otherwise be used for various purposes after proper treatment.

In India, several places are facing droughts and water shortages already. So it is very important for people to understand the need for water conservation and use water judiciously. Even individual help can prove vital in the future. Measures should be taken in water conservation such as:

Do not keep taps running when not in use, repair leakages immediately.

Utilize a full load of washing machines instead of washing fewer clothes, this will help save water each time.

Many public places such as restaurants, hotels and residential buildings have installed fountains which leads to a lot of wastage of water. This should be curbed totally.

Reducing shower time can also cut down on water usage.

Collecting and harvesting rainwater during the rainy season should be practiced which is very beneficial in water conservation. It can be used for a range of purposes such as cleaning, washing and flushing.

Watering lawns should not be practiced as it leads to immense loss of water.

With correct individual and collective approaches, it is possible to help conserve water and thus save the environment. One small step a day goes a long way. Everyone should practice water conservation methods to help reduce water shortages.

Essay on Water Conservation

Water, a precious resource, sustains all life on Earth. In this essay, we will explore the critical need for water conservation, the challenges we face in preserving this invaluable resource, and the actions we can take to ensure a sustainable future.

The Essence of Water

Water is often called the elixir of life because it is essential for all living beings. It makes up a significant part of our bodies and is crucial for various biological processes. Without water, life as we know it would cease to exist.

The Global Water Crisis

Despite Earth’s abundant water supply, only a small fraction is freshwater, suitable for drinking and agriculture. The rest is saline water in oceans and ice in polar regions. This limited freshwater is unevenly distributed, leading to water scarcity in many parts of the world.

Wasteful Practices

Wasteful water practices are a significant concern. Inefficient irrigation methods, leaky pipes, and excessive use of water in industries and households contribute to water waste. According to the United Nations, nearly one-third of the world’s population lacks access to safe drinking water.

Impact on Ecosystems

Water conservation is not just about human needs; it’s also about protecting ecosystems. Many aquatic species depend on healthy water bodies for their survival. Excessive water use and pollution harm these habitats, leading to the decline of numerous plant and animal species.

Agriculture’s Role

Agriculture is the largest consumer of freshwater, accounting for around 70% of global water use. Efficient irrigation methods, crop selection, and responsible water management in agriculture are essential to conserve water resources and ensuring food security.

The Drying of Rivers

Rivers are the lifelines of many regions, providing water for drinking, agriculture, and transportation. However, numerous rivers are drying up due to over extraction and climate change. The Ganges and Colorado Rivers are prime examples of once-mighty rivers facing significant challenges.

Climate Change and Water

Climate change exacerbates water-related issues. Rising temperatures lead to increased evaporation rates, changing precipitation patterns, and more frequent droughts and floods. This poses a severe threat to water availability and quality.

The Importance of Groundwater

Groundwater, stored beneath the Earth’s surface, is a critical source of freshwater. It supplies drinking water to millions and sustains ecosystems. However, over-pumping and contamination of groundwater aquifers are depleting this resource at an alarming rate.

Water Conservation Strategies

We have the power to make a difference through water conservation strategies. Fixing leaks, using water-saving appliances, and adopting responsible water practices in our daily lives can significantly reduce water wastage.

Educating and Raising Awareness

Education is key to promoting water conservation. Schools, communities, and organizations play a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of water and teaching responsible water usage.

Government Policies and Regulations

Governments worldwide must implement and enforce policies and regulations to protect water resources. These measures can include water pricing, water recycling, and restrictions on water usage during droughts.

International Cooperation

Water conservation is a global issue that requires international cooperation. Countries must work together to manage transboundary water resources, such as rivers and lakes, to ensure equitable access and sustainable use.

Conclusion of Essay on Water Conservation

In conclusion, water conservation is not just an option; it’s a necessity. Our planet’s future depends on responsible water management. We must address wasteful practices, protect ecosystems, and adapt to the challenges posed by climate change. By implementing effective strategies and raising awareness, we can safeguard this precious resource for ourselves and future generations. Water conservation is not merely a choice; it’s an ethical responsibility we all share to ensure a sustainable and thriving world.

Short Essay on Water Conservation in 100 Words

Water is the basis of life on Earth. Our planet is made up of 70% water. Out of this, only about 3% is fresh water. Although saltwater supports its own unique marine life, humans and a vast majority of plants and animals require fresh water to survive. However, because of climate change and improper management of water resources, water scarcity has become a real problem globally.

If we do not take measures to conserve water now, survival will become a real challenge for humans as well as other living organisms in the upcoming years. To conserve water, rainwater harvesting must be made compulsory. More trees should be planted, rivers should be kept clean and the wastage of water should be reduced. We must always remember that without water, we wouldn’t be able to survive as well.

Our planet is composed of 70% water and so is our human body. Water is the basis of life on Earth. It acts as a solvent and carries dissolved minerals and other vital substances into and out of cells. This keeps the cells and in turn, humans, animals, plants and microorganisms alive. Out of all water present on Earth, only about 3% is fresh water.

The remaining water is saltwater which supports its own unique marine life but is not suitable for consumption by humans, animals and plants. In recent years, because of climate changes as well as poor management of water resources, water scarcity has become a real and threatening issue. It is predicted that the situation will only worsen with time if we don’t start conserving water now.

People must be made aware of the consequences of water scarcity. Governments should take measures to educate people on the topic of water conservation so that people become mindful of water and stop wasting it. We must also practice rainwater harvesting and plant more trees to keep the ecosystem in balance.

Rivers and big lakes are our largest source of fresh water. But due to the absence of strict laws, these water bodies have now become extremely polluted. We must take steps to purify our rivers and lakes and keep them clean. We must always remember that without water, we wouldn’t be able to survive as well.

Water is vital for the existence of life on Earth. Our planet is composed of 70% water. Even our human body is made up of 70% water. Water acts as a solvent and carries dissolved minerals and other vital substances into and out of cells. This keeps the cells alive and in turn, ensures the survival of various forms of life.

Although 70% seems to be a large amount, most of the water on Earth is saltwater which is present in our seas and oceans. Of all water present on Earth, only about 3% is fresh water. Although saltwater supports its own unique marine life, humans and most animals and plants need fresh water for survival. The largest sources of freshwater are rivers and lakes as well as underground aquifers.

In the past few decades, because of negligent practices, poor management of water resources as well as climate changes, the water in rivers and lakes has been extremely polluted and the underground water level has gone down as well. This has caused scarcity of water in many countries and it is predicted that we may soon face scarcity globally. To ensure our survival and the survival of other living creatures, we must now take steps to conserve water.

The first step in the direction of water conservation is to reduce the wastage of water. Little changes in habits like closing the tap after use, being mindful of the water usage while showering or washing cars, reusing water used for washing and cleaning to water plants, etc., would take us far. Rainwater harvesting is also an effective method and should be made compulsory in drought-prone areas. It can help raise the level of underground water. New and efficient methods of irrigation can also help conserve water.

Governments around the world are taking various measures to ensure the conservation of water. In India, due to the absence of strict laws, rivers and lakes have now become extremely polluted rivers. The government has taken steps to clean the water bodies and set up water treatment plants. But all these measures can only be effective in the long term if we educate the masses about the threats of water pollution and water scarcity. It is only through awareness that people are going to consciously stop wasting or dirtying water and thus, help in the conservation of water.

Water is essential for our survival on this planet. Without clean water, many life forms would perish and go extinct. We must conserve water.

Water Conservation Essay

water conservation essay english

Introduction

Water is the most basic and important component of our lives. When we become thirsty, we drink water; we wash clothes, bathe and cook with water. Even though we are heavily dependent on water for many purposes, most of us do not face any hardship in obtaining it. But this is not the case with everyone. Certain sections of society face water scarcity, and they cannot meet their basic needs without water . This calls for an understanding of the significance of water and the ways to conserve it, which is discussed in this water conservation essay in English.

We need water to survive in this world. But this does not mean that we are conserving water for our needs alone. We must also be considerate of future generations by remembering that they have equal rights to resources in this world as we have. So, let us see the advantages and methods of conserving water in this essay.

Importance of Water Conservation

Although we claim that the majority of the Earth is covered in water, our selfish and careless use of it has led to the draining of water resources. The water conservation essay focuses on the importance of conserving water. Whether it be for domestic, industrial or agricultural purposes, we continue to depend on water for several tasks. Sometimes, we are not aware of how massively we use water and are negligent of the harm we do to water bodies. Moreover, water pollution is another contributing factor to water scarcity. Thus, this thoughtless use and pollution of water must be avoided, as it is our responsibility to take care of what is left and preserve them for future use.

Methods of Water Conservation

We say that we must conserve water, but you might be wondering how. In this importance of water conservation essay, we will see different methods and practices to conserve water. Every small effort should first begin from home, and if we try to conserve water through these measures, it will have a huge impact on the world as such. By closing the tap while brushing our teeth and teaching our children about this practice, we can save gallons of water every month. We must also look for leaks in pipes and taps and fix them regularly to prevent water wastage. Also, avoiding showers while taking a bath can save water .

In addition to these steps, remember to run machines and appliances, especially washing machines and dishwashers, on full load to conserve water. Apart from this, we can also look for other methods of conservation in this water conservation essay in English. Rainwater harvesting is the most popular method of conservation, where water is collected and filtered to use for agricultural purposes. We can also reuse and recycle water by pouring it into plants after washing the vegetables. More than anything, we must ensure not to pollute water by any means.

Water scarcity is a rising concern for us, and hence, we must pay attention to water-conserving methods. When we come together to fight for this cause, we will be able to create a significant change in conserving water. Essay on Conservation of Water in 500 Words

Below we have provided Conservation of Water Essay in English, suitable for class 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.

Near about 3.7 billion years ago, cooling down of earth created warm water bodies. The first single-celled organism is said to have evolved in these warm oceans. This explains how water is the origin of life. It is the ultimate source of survival for all life forms. Earth is rightly termed as the blue planet. Around 70 percent of the earth’s surface is submerged in water. In its absence, life will cease to exist. Despite its abundance, the world is dealing with the scarcity of water. Hence this natural resource needs to be conserved at all means.

Scarcity of Water

Human civilization started across river banks, wherein people could easily grow crops. Currently, the agriculture sector needs almost 70 percent of the freshwater supply. The rest of the 30 percent gets utilized in domestic and industrial activities. This freshwater source is depleting fast. Besides, a majority of the freshwater content is trapped in the glaciers or the ice caps. Time and again, our activities have resulted in the exploitation of water. Pollution of water due to industrial effluents and waste discharge disrupts the natural balance. Urban areas are packed with multitudes of buildings.

This is the major reason why we can’t even facilitate rainwater storage areas. Moreover, flash floods and destruction of the riverine regions are the common outcomes. Study reports suggest that only 1 percent of the entire water content of the earth is potable. To put this in clearer terms, more than 1 billion people thrive in 1 gallon of water per day. According to these statistics, by 2025, some 3 billion people or more would be facing a severe shortage of water. Hence, the scarcity of water needs to be addressed immediately.

Water Conservation Methods

Understanding the importance of water is the first step. However, we need to save this resource to procure long-term benefits. Here we have mentioned a few points related to the conservation of water:

  • Instead of showers or tubs, try to use buckets for bathing purposes. This will easily save at least 150 liters of water every year.
  • Avoid wastage of water while cooking food or cleaning utensils.
  • Turn off the pipe or the faucet when you are not using it.
  • Before using the dishwasher or the washing machine, make sure it is fully loaded. You can save 300 to 800 gallons per month by practising this.
  • Avoid excessive use of water while brushing your teeth or washing your face.
  • Adjust the speed of your shower head by using a blocker.
  • Lessen the usage of water while flushing the toilets.
  • Use rainwater harvesting techniques to store rainwater. Utilise the rainwater for basic domestic needs.
  • Use a hosepipe while gardening or washing your vehicle.
  • Water the plants in your garden in the evening hours. Less water loss due to evaporation helps retain water for a longer time.
  • Plant more trees during the rainy season. Planting more trees will help you cover the soil, and this will prevent evaporation.
  • Avoid wasting much water in festivals like Holi.
  • Pollution management must be effectively done.
  • The government should ban water-polluting means employed by the industries.
  • Strict laws must be imposed for releasing untreated effluents into water bodies.
  • Spread awareness regarding conservation of water.
  • Encourage your friends and families to adopt these precautionary measures for saving water.

Essay on save water

Essay on save water 22 Models

Essay on save water, This article asks you to talk about all the details related to water. You can start your talk by explaining the importance of water for humans and living organisms. Then talk about ways we can conserve water.

And don’t forget to talk about the negative things that cause water to be wasted or polluted.

Because of the importance of this article, we will provide students with several models that talk in detail about everything related to water and its conservation.

Essay on save water

Water is the lifeblood of life because of its presence in the body of living organisms and in all their vital organs. And because of the presence of water in their bodies, they must drink water intensively during the day.

But if living things do not find clean water to drink, they will die instantly. Living organisms of all kinds do not drink any kind of water, but it must be fresh and clean water. As for salty and unclean water, it is like a poison for living organisms.

Therefore, we must conserve water in every possible way in order to save the lives of humans and all creatures from destruction and death. But how can we save water?.

Saving water has several ways, one of which is not to overuse it for irrigation or household purposes. We must definitively refrain from throwing filth into water sources.

As for the pollution that occurs due to the leakage of oil in the open sea and the ocean, fines must be imposed on the oil tankers that cause this disaster.

All people wonder what they are doing to save the planet, and whether these efforts are enough or are they completely useless. Several countries are doing their best to conserve water, by building dams on an ongoing basis.

The purpose of building the dam is to collect rainwater behind it and use it later. If a dam is not built, the excess water will be lost to the desert sands.

During the rush of this water wash away some residential places and destroy roads. It may uproot some crops and kill some people and animals.

The country that builds dams is a country that does its best to conserve water from wastage.

Water conservation essay

Water is one of the most important sources of water on the planet, and therefore we must conserve it in all possible ways.Because of the great importance of water to humans, God created vast areas of water, amounting to about 70% of the land area.

There are two types of water on planet Earth, some of which are sweet and suitable for drinking and for irrigating plants, and some of them are salty and not suitable for irrigation or drinking. But salt water is of great importance, as a large number of fisheries that humans feed on live in it.

There is another importance for the water on the earth’s surface is its evaporation due to the heat of the sun and then falling again on the earth in the form of fresh rain water.

This shows us that water is renewable and not a resource that runs out of use and time, but that it must be kept clean because polluting it will make rain polluted as well.

Article on save water

Humans, plants, and all living organisms depend on the presence of water. The human body consists of water, which helps in the completion of all vital processes.

Therefore, the water entering the human body must be clean to a large extent, so as not to cause him serious diseases.

But humans are accustomed to seriously polluting the water, throwing dead animals into the water sources.

As for factories, they throw their toxic waste into any nearby river or sea.

Now, countries and governments are trying to make people aware of the need to conserve water and rationalize its consumption.

Awareness is achieved by going to children in their schools and showing documentaries showing them the importance of water for human life. It shows them the dangers that we may face if we pollute drinking water or sea water.

Save water paragraph

There are several ways to conserve water from the risk of pollution, including not overusing it, whether at home or on the streets.

As we see that people spray the streets with water in the summer to reduce the heat, but this behavior leads to wasting a large amount of water unnecessarily.

There are some homes that leave the tap without closing it tightly, so the water continues to come down all the time.

When we walk in the streets, we find some water pipes have rusted and started to drip, which leads to flooding the streets and wasting water.

And all these causes that waste water because of it must be treated and controlled by scientific methods. Governments must intervene and impose fines on those who waste water. And you must educate the citizens about the dangers of what they are doing.

Save water save life essay

If a person wants to save his life, he must conserve water from wastage. But how can he conserve water?

At the outset, we must launch awareness campaigns for citizens, whether young or old. This campaign aims to teach people how to turn off the tap and fix it if it is wasting water due to the difficulty of closing it.

We must teach people how to recycle and use water, such as using water previously used to irrigate plants and trees, provided that it does not contain chemicals such as detergents and soap.

The use of water for domestic purposes is regulated, as vegetables are washed in a bowl instead of under the tap while it is open with full force.

It is possible to use electrical appliances that save water, such as a washing machine and dishwasher, where the washing process is carried out with the least amount of water.

Save water essay in english 10 lines

Governments in various countries of the world tend to conserve water, and one of the most important steps they take is the construction of different types of dams. The main reason behind the construction of the dam is to impound the water behind this dam.

During the rainy season, the water comes in large quantities, but it decreases significantly in other seasons.

If the water increases, it may trigger a flood, which leads to the destruction of roads and agricultural crops.

That is why water must be stored behind the dam to protect the area from flooding.

Another use of this water is to generate electricity through it. Some countries are taking advantage of the phenomenon of rainfall greatly, as they build dams and store these large quantities of water instead of letting it drown crops or swept roads. After their reservation, they use it to generate electric power.

10 Lines on save water in English

When there is less fresh water, people fall into fear and confusion, because their entire life depends on fresh water.

With water, a person can cook and clean himself. With water, he is able to grow and provide food, and also be able to raise animals that he uses as a source of meat and milk.

That is why we must conserve the existing water or purify sea water or sewage. We must monitor factories and ships that dump waste into water sources and report them to the competent authorities.

Residues that fall from ships and oil tankers pollute the water, which leads to the killing of fish stocks, and this causes a great economic loss because fish is one of the most important food sources that people depend on.

Save water save earth essay

There are several ways to conserve water, including focusing on a good type of irrigation that does not waste water, such as irrigation through droplets.

Therefore, we see all developed countries using these modern methods of irrigation. As for the old methods that used to use large amounts of water and caused flooding of the land, it is no longer used.

As for the crops themselves, the global trend has become towards plants that do not need a large amount of water during cultivation, so as to waste water in order to obtain only one crop.

One of the most famous crops that needs abundant amounts of water is rice. Rice needs the soil below it to be heavily watered.

This method of cultivating it needs to provide large amounts of water, so most governments decided to plant it in specific places and not to plant it every year.

Water conservation paragraph

In this paragraph, I can only tell you that water is the lifeblood of life, as it is as important to a person as the blood that runs in his veins.

Therefore, parents must do their part to the fullest in educating their children about the necessity of water in order to conserve it.

Governments must do everything they can to punish those responsible for wasting and polluting water. These penalties will frighten others who think of polluting it in any way.

At the end of my speech, I say that water conservation is a national security and not a simple issue.

Essay on save water save life 300 words

If you want to save life on the planet, you must save water and preserve it from pollution. And as we all know that water comes from the ground through drilling some wells or through natural springs that bring us underground water.

Another source of water is the rain that falls at certain times of the year. You should know that rain does not come from nothing, but results from the evaporation of seawater, rivers and oceans. After it evaporates, it condenses and falls back to the ground.

But if the water sources are reduced or polluted, the rain will be less or polluted and it is not suitable for drinking or irrigating the land. That is why we must keep the water clean in order to produce clean rain that benefits humanity.

Write a paragraph on save water

When we were in primary school, the school administration was very concerned with saving water. The teacher in charge of the class would take us downstairs to teach us the correct way to turn on the tap.

At first we used to turn on the water with full force and leave it open and talk to each other, but the teacher told us to open the tap carefully and close it immediately after use. We must make sure that the faucet is tightly closed and that no water comes out of it after it is closed.

All these things made us conserve water at school and at home, because we were afraid that we would waste water and one day we would not find it.

Human life without water is an impossible and frightening life. Everything related to human life is mainly composed of water.

Article on save water are we doing enough

5 lines on save water in english.

In order for the state to conserve water, it must be strict with everyone who deliberately wastes or pollutes water, such as farmers who throw dead animals into water sources.

The state should teach them the correct way to dispose of a dead animal by burying it underground. It must also be held accountable for those who irrigate the land by the immersion method, as it causes the loss of a large amount of water that we can save if we change the irrigation method to a sound scientific method.

One of these scientific methods is the drip method, which gives the plant its sufficiency without wasting. The state must work intensively on desalinating wastewater and reusing it for irrigation so that clean drinking water is provided.

Essay on water conservation in 500 words

Water conservation is the responsibility of all government employees and residents. As for the role of the government, it must be a large and vital role, divided into several sections. The government should launch continuous awareness campaigns on television and social media.

These awareness campaigns should go to schools and target young children so that they learn to conserve water from an early age.

As for the penalties, they are one of the most important things that prevent criminals from continuing their heinous acts.

On the other hand, water conservationists and law-abiding must be rewarded, in order to encourage everyone to

emulate them.

There is another role for the citizens, which is to abide by what they have learned from the government and not to violate it.

Write an article on save water

Do you know what you must do as a citizen in order to conserve water? You must first understand how important water is to you and the organisms around you.

In order to know this importance, try to live without water for one day only, and ask yourself what would be the situation if we continued to pollute and waste water.

Will we be able to live without water? And if we can live on Earth without water, how long will it take before we become extinct? .

All these questions will make you more careful about water, because a person does not know the value of something unless he is deprived of it. We must deprive ourselves of water for some time as an experiment until we learn how to conserve it later.

Water conservation essay in english 150 words

We must begin our conversation by mentioning the importance of water for humans and for all living creatures.

Water consists of hydrogen and oxygen, as God created it for us to become the main factor in the prosperity of our lives.

When water is available in a particular place, we find all eyes are directed to it, and the greed of colonial countries increases because of the abundance of water.

When there is fresh water, there are several types of fish that live only in freshwater, which provides humans with a good source of food.

And when there are salty water bodies, the movement of ships and trade activates, which increases the national income.

In salt water, there are several types of fish of high nutritional value because they contain phosphorus and the high prices for selling them, whether inside the country or exporting them abroad.

So we must all come together and be one hand and conserve water, especially fresh water that is being wasted.

One of the ways we can conserve fresh water is to use water-saving devices. And to reuse the water for other purposes.

As for the water located near the residential areas, we must refrain from throwing any kind of waste in it. We must use water with caution when irrigating land and planting home gardens.

We must help the government in its continuous endeavor to conserve water and not violate the instructions and warnings.

Water Conservation Essay 300 Words

Water is the most essential element of life on earth. It’s the first need and necessity of a living being. Water conservation is a hot topic nowadays as we human beings are not making the correct use of water and wasting it unnecessarily. Water conservation simply means that we should use water wisely and does not contribute to water scarcity.

We need water for absolutely everything- for growing and making food, generating electricity, washing and the list is non-ending. It plays an integral role in our lives and we must find ways to conserve this precious gift of nature.

By reducing the consumption of water and recycling the wastewater for various purposes we can take the first step towards water conservation. Agricultural irrigation, cleaning and many other things can be done using wastewater.

According to facts, there’s only 3% fresh water available for the total water in the world. And most of the water is trapped in icebergs. So there’s an urgent need to understand water scarcity problem arising day by day. However, we are still exploiting this small amount of water for our own selfish needs.

Agriculture is the main occupation of the people in India and so we are heavily dependent on rainfall for crop harvest. Agriculture largely relies on water scarcity and climate. Therefore, it is necessary to make farmers aware of different water conservation methods so that they can use water judiciously.

Now, again we can blame high population the reason behind the water crisis. People are migrating from rural to urban areas due to good jobs, education, and a better lifestyle. However, urban areas do not have enough infrastructure and space to accommodate these people. Also, our water bodies are getting polluted due to more industrial and household waste. This has ultimately led to water scarcity and we are still suffering from it.

But here are some things we can do to preserve water. Firstly, we need to use buckets for bathing instead of using showers or tubs. Another thing we can do is reducing the use of electricity. Power plants that generate electricity consume a lot of water so if we use less electricity we are ultimately saving water for us.

Rainwater harvesting is another water conservation technique that helps save a lot of water. Water that we use for washing fruits and veggies should not be drained. It can be again used to water the plants in your garden. So this is how we can contribute to conserving water and making mother nature happy.
