Speech on Internet Is Boon Or Bane (Short & Long Speech) For Students

Speech on internet is boon or bane.

Good morning to the principal teachers and all my dear friends today I am going to speak on a topic internet boon or bane.

INTRODUCTION

Internet is a network which provides different kinds of facilities information and connectivity. It is a global computer network where people can communicate with their customers producers, relatives etc. There are many sources of internet which one can use some are mobile networks, Wi-Fi hotspot, broadband, cable etc. These are easily available and easy to use its speed may vary from each other because of the availability of the respective towers of the network service provider and also from the types of network like 2G 3G 4G. Internet is a worldwide network which connect all the computers throughout the world and help them to communicate with each other.

Internet can be a boon or a bane both.

Internet is a boon for many people who use it appropriately. It is a thing which works under the hand of the user, what a user want to do with internet.

Internet is a blessing for many people, it provides information about anything in a click and also people can explore new places and new things just by their sitting on a particular place. Nowadays many people are working from home and students attending school colleges online (from home) are able to connect to their respective batch mates from the help of internet. Does by using internet useful it is a boon because internet is a place where a person can ask questions in spite of thinking that he or she is disturbing someone by asking such questions and asking repeatedly.

Internet is a bane for some people who are not using it in an efficient way. It is also a disadvantage for many students because many students play instead of asking questions to internet. They don’t ask teachers and instead try to conclude something.

Using internet inappropriately can make your life worst. Internet is a place where small children learn a thing which is not meant for them. Some sites put restrictions but somehow with the help of internet itself students can be misleaded in their lives. After computers and internet enter our life the physical world is disturbed.

Nowadays students play video games rather than playing outdoor games which makes them physically unfit.

Internet can be a boon or bane, it all depends upon how a person is using their connection to internet. After all internet has captured much of our life.  After internet captured many of our free time, wasting our time on internet makes our physical health getting worst day by day. Although because of internet our life is getting easy and fast. Use of internet with precautions and parent’s control is advised for school going children as exposure to too much data can lead to unhealthy relationships with parents. It can also lead to game addiction and several social media apps are not appropriate for children’s use.

We should use internet in a good way. Mostly students use it on wrong and also some students use it on right way,so they must be careful towards this.

Yes Arpita.

‘I welcome you all present here. Allow me to present myself on Speech on Social Media Bane or Boon. Social Media has become an integral part of our everyday lives. What’s going on around the world can all be figured out in seconds on the social media platforms. But social media is not meant for everyone and not everyone can operate it.

That was just one side of social media, for there is another, which must not be neglected. The increase in fake news, misinformation, and online scams has underscored the need for critical thinking and digital literacy to discern the authenticity of information shared on these platforms.

internet - boon or bane

Table of Contents

Why the Internet is a boon:

  • The Internet made our lives easier . Now, we are watching movies online, ordering food online, paying bills online, buying things online, studying online and doing many other things, which weren’t possible before the invention of the internet. Many innovations based on the internet are improved our living standards.
  • Because of the internet, the world has become a global village . People can connect easily to other people, even if they are living on the other side of the world.  Communication has never been this easier.
  • The Internet encourages freedom of speech . Earlier, only some people have the power to share their views with the public. But now, anyone can express their opinions through social media, websites or other similar mediums, which were made possible due to the invention of the internet. It is empowering everyone including those who are residing at the remotest places. It also gave voice to the people, who are hitherto socially disadvantaged.
  • The Internet has created a lot of opportunities that weren’t there before. It created a lot of jobs. At present, the majority of the employment opportunities are based on the internet.
  • Sharing information or any files can be done in a fraction of seconds.
  • The scope of gossip on celebrities is reducing because now celebrities are able to interact with fans directly through social media.
  • Due to the internet, students are able to take any course in the college of their choice through E-learning . Developing skills is much easier now due to the availability of free courses on the internet.
  • When the world is fighting the pandemic , several countries had to impose lockdowns. In that time, people stayed connected through the internet and are knowing the updates online. Without the internet, the mental health of many would have been affected negatively.

Why the Internet is a bane:

  • According to researchers, our concentration levels are decreasing with the overwhelming usage of the internet as we are concentrating on a lot of things at the same time .
  • Our memory power is reducing. With the growing usage of the internet, we are not using our minds as much as we did when there was no internet. We used to store a lot of information in our minds and we used to do simple math without using our phones etc.
  • The present generation has way too many distractions because of the internet.
  • Lack of security, because hackers can easily theft data or can manipulate it. Cybersecurity is one of the biggest challenges in the present times.
  • Everyone can express their own views. But this resulted in fake news . Fake news caused chaos many times. We have even witnessed mob lynchings due to the circulation of fake news.
  • Through Internet, viruses and malware spread easily and total data on the device can get corrupted.
  • Many people waste their precious time on the internet.
  • Gossips spread easily. The privacy of celebrities is diminishing.
  • Internet addiction is now one of the modern world’s problems.
  • Virtual communications have replaced the face to face communication. As a result, many people, especially youngsters are giving importance to the virtual world more than real life. Some youngsters are spoiling their lives trying to earn fame through the internet.

Conclusion:

Internet is definitely a boon. It brought the world closer and made our lives easier. We should utilize technology to make this world a better place to live in. However, every coin has two sides. It’s up to us to take good and to leave bad. Moreover, it is the responsibility of parents and teachers to guide children about the good and bad sides of the internet.

Essay on Internet A Boon Or Bane Reading Questions and Answers

Ielts reading passage – essay on internet a boon or bane.

Essay on Internet A Boon Or Bane

To begin with, the internet is a system of global connection that networks many computers at a time using its special protocol suite (TCP/IP). It is a system developed for communicating between the devices with the network connection. It is a storehouse of online services with wide coverage in the modern era. Millions of web browsers and sites are available just because of the internet. There are various types of internet connection in the form of cable, fiber, DSL, and satellite internet connections. The modern internet had a foundation since January /, 1983 when Arpanet adopted TCP/IP as an Internet protocol suite. The researchers worked to assemble a ‘network of networks’ that gave us the world wide web in around 1990.

Since 1990, the online world has been possible. We have reached an era where nothing is possible without the internet. This has left a very deep stamp on us with the internet acting as a necessity in every field. It has been serving us as a boon because broadcasting media has been able to flourish only with the internet. From taking the life of a student or a businessman, the internet has been a platform to grow and enhance one’s reach. The clarification of doubts and curiosity got a solution from the internet where a lot of people from different communities can interact together. The economic progress has also been highly contributed by the internet as it allows the user to learn as well as expose.  Thus, it has been a blessing for today’s generation where access to the world has been very convenient.

Moreover, the internet has been acting as an addiction to the young generation. From being a storehouse of millions of web pages, there is a flourishment for the negative content. As a consequence crime has taken into a different direction which raised the victimization beyond the politics of one state which is cybercrime. Social media has been a platform more than society and there is the negligence of actual social life. Pictures are a target for the family to get together to post followed captions to set with social media and walls as a showcase. Thus, life has been deteriorating and more of a showcase placed on one’s wall of a media. The children get the gadgets and the internet to learn more than mentors and guardians. This has resulted in making a social animal more of a device with more actions but less interaction.

As a whole, everything has two sides as pros and cons. But talking about the internet, in reality, it has been spreading as an addiction more of a devastating manner instead of improvements. If the use of the internet is not given a proper direction or guidance then the flow of crimes will be more than the flow of information. Hence, there have to be proper mentors mentoring the upcoming generation with proper use of the internet and people use it as a platform to showcase one’s talent instead of unwanted techniques and strategies of degrading activities.

We live in a high tech world, with high tech classrooms. We embrace the benefits of using I pads during class, integrating tweets during presentations, and teaching students while using smart TVs. We know the many benefits of incorporating technology while teaching, such as adding diversity to lessons, increasing student interaction, and to bringing new perspectives and knowledge to the class. Technology can have a large impact on users' mental and physical health. Being overly connected can cause psychological issues such as distraction, narcissism, expectation of instant gratification, and even depression. Besides affecting users' mental health, use of technology can also have negative repercussions on physical health causing vision problems, hearing loss, and neck strain.

COMMUNICATION As per the rapid development of technology, everything has changed their style and shape. However, some changes seem very positive but on the other side, it affects many valuable and intimacy-booster factors negatively. Keeping relationship alive with people through electronic means is not as much effective as the real face to face interaction is, because face to face communication will enable you to get more as compare to being engaged in wireless communication. Thus, the upcoming discussion will reveal all the shortcomings of technologies that affect communication pessimistically. It's well-known that communication plays a vital role in human being society because maintaining the relationship with family members, peers, relatives, and with all those who are close to us and touches our lives in one way or another is indispensable. Simply if we observe people in our community nearly half of them have access to some sort of technological means such as Smartphone, computers, tablets, iPods, and much more types of devices to use it for stable contacts instead of visiting and communicating closely and physically. According to Larry Rosen, virtual communication is not commendable like real world interactions. To see the enrichment and ubiquity of technological devices we are obliged to interact more with virtual friends than real-world people. As addiction, communication through electronic means takes more time than real-world communication even we know that it keep us in distance while not perceiving each other closely and intimately, despite of this, still publics; especially younger generations are using technological sources for communication and messages. And if we keep such a way of communication constant it will not let us interact personally. One study, conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation, found people ages 8 to 18 spent more time on media than on any other activity – at an average of 7.5 hours a day (Rideout, Foehr, & Roberts, 2010). It would have been a very good thing that people had considered physically existed communication essential and important. If they were aware that how much the real world communication is useful that may not have been engaged as much in non-natural ways of communication as they currently are. In 2010, a study proved that as internet use increased, time spent with family and friends decreased while 39% of Americans spend more time socializing online than face-to-face (Brown 2013). We may think as we are social by using electronic means for keeping relationship but according to Sherry Turkle psychologist: not engaging in real world communication is just a sip of communication because we cannot get comprehensive results from the virtual exchange of information.

Speech on Internet

Very good morning to all. Today, I am here to present a speech on internet. Someone has rightly said that the world is a small place. With the advent of the internet, this saying seems realistic. The internet has really bought the world together and the distance between two persons is really not a distance today. We all know about the technological advancements happening in the world. One of the major attributes of technological advancement is the internet. Today the internet is available easily to many individuals. Also, it is rapidly changing the way we work, travel, educate and entertain.

Evolution of Internet

Many of you are aware of what the internet facility is. Still, I would like to highlight the aspects of the internet. The internet is a facility wherein two gadget screens are connected through signals. Thus, through this medium, the information can be exchanged between two gadgets.

The history of the internet dates back to 40 years ago with its first use in the United States of America and the inventor of the internet was Robert E.Kahn and Vint Cerf. Earlier the internet was only used to send emails between two computers. Today it has reached all distant parts of the globe with more than 1.5 million users. They use the internet for exchange of information, entertainment, money exchanges, etc.

Pros of the Internet

The internet facility has many advantages and it has proved to be a milestone in the technical advancement of humankind. It allows users to exchange and communicate information. Two users who are sitting in distant corners of the world can easily communicate through mails, chats, and video conferencing by using the internet.

It provides information of all kinds to its users. Also, it provides entertainment by offering services of watching movies, listening to music, playing a game. Various day to day activities such as travel ticket bookings, banking facilities, shopping, etc. can be easily done through the internet.

Nowadays the internet also offers various dating websites and matrimonial websites by which one can find their prospective soul mate.

The Internet also offers a facility to its users where they can earn online by means of blogs and video blogs. These are some of the major benefits of the internet has a dark side also.

Cons of the Internet

Many a number of people misuse information for fraud and illegal works. Due to excessive use of the internet in the wrong hands, a number of cybercrimes are happening which is affecting the trust of the people on the internet.

Abuse over social media is also prevailing through the internet wherein people of negative mentality abuse other people on the basis of caste, race, color, appearance, etc. Addiction to online games is one of the major problems of parents today as children get addicted to online games and avoid their studies and outdoor activities.

The internet has nowadays become such an important part of the life of the people that it is hardly possible to spend even a day without using the internet. Thus after seeing the negatives of the internet, it is not practically possible to completely avoid the internet. However, we can put a timeline or restriction on its usage especially to children.

The parents and teachers can monitor the online activities of their children and guide them on the proper use of the internet. We should also educate and aware people of online cybercrime and fraud. Thus through proper precautions and adopting safety measures the internet can prove to be a boon for the development of human society.

Digital Age: A boon or a bane to Human Rights

By: Saachi Shukla & Apoorva Agarwal*  |

write a speech on internet a boon or a bane

INTRODUCTION

The digital environment has marked a complete shift in our society, signalled a new revolution and has altered many aspects of our lives. The digital age has transformed modern life, bringing with it countless benefits of social connectivity, learning opportunities, flexibility and mobility, and increased productivity in various sectors of the economy. The shortcomings of the digital world are data security breach, malevolent operations of cyber terrorism, cyberbullying, online harassment, social media addiction, Intellectual Property and Copyright violations, complexities of digital media manipulation, complete reliance on digital gadgets, online banking frauds and surveillance, with the main focus on the invasion of privacy.

This immense collection, storage and distribution of data of personal information has posed a serious challenge to the universally recognised human rights in the digital age. It becomes pertinent to recognise that the digital revolution is one of the major issues affecting human rights. In order to curb human rights violations, International and domestic laws provide legal frameworks for the protection of rights of the individuals including the right to privacy, freedom of speech and expression, freedom of association, freedom from any discrimination and the right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure.

APPROACHES BY INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITIES

The digital global environment is set out as a space for imagination, delegation, and knowledge that provides a platform for freedom of expression and undefined connectivity. Digital platforms are not only a tool to share, search and access information, but also a source of a well-defined and structured system of human rights, followed by the nations respective of the domestic as well as the international framework. While the digital era contributes infinite benefits to mankind, it also poses a serious threat to the framework of International Human Rights law.

For instance, in China, citizens are denied access to any ‘harmful’ content on foreign websites by blocking access to social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. [i] The Chinese Government regulates and censors the internet which is an outright violation of human right. In China, access to the internet is not considered an absolute human right but rather a conditional right conferred on its citizens. As in November 2016, President Xi Jinping adopted the ‘Cyber Security Law’ to restrict internet freedom, strengthen surveillance and track bloggers and human right activists that protest the policies, thus infringing the human right laws.

With respect to the United States of America in 2013, Edward Snowden, a former US Government contractor leaked documents to media that showed the extent to which digital security, data of users and networks had been compromised in the name of protecting ‘national security.’ As a result of this disclosure, people around the world challenged surveillance in Courts and legislations debated them. [ii] In the landmark case of ACLU v Clapper , [iii] bulk collection of phone records surveillance of American citizens by the National Security Agency was ruled illegal. [iv]

In the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner’s Office confirmed to adopt an Age Appropriate Design Code of Practice in 2019 which provides 16 standards that must be followed while designing internet services accessible to children under 18 years of age. [v] This draft has been made to protect children under 18 years of age against the innumerable crimes of the internet. However, the proposal has been heavily criticised for its privacy policies and data sharing methods.

As for the agency protecting human rights, the United Nations Human Rights Council passed a non-binding resolution in 2016 condemning nations that intentionally disrupt accessibility to the internet. The resolution binds the countries on freedom of expression secured under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, reaffirming that “the same rights people have offline must also be protected online.” [vi] However, many countries do not follow the laws made by the International agencies, mainly due to the fact that most such laws lack sanction/authorities. For instance, the United States of America admitted that they observed protests in Egypt in 2011 by digital means and committed a major violation of International framework of fundamental rights of free expression, assembly and association; including breach of privacy. [vii]

There are various recent examples as to the effect of the internet in undermining human right laws. For example, a criminal court of Tehran held Soheil Arabi for the death sentence for “insulting the Prophet Muhammad” [viii] on Facebook. In another case, Turkey Prime Minister Tayyib Erdogan banned social media platform Twitter for its citizens. Therefore, the Digital environment has become a platform for both exercises and violate human rights at a global level.

INDIA’S LEGAL AND POLICY FRAMEWORK

In India, digital technology has not only become a tool to monitor and track personal data but to influence and instil hatred or extremism between communities. Digital platforms and artificial intelligence is not only shaping our ideas but also manipulating and controlling our activities, ultimately violating human rights. Invasion of this fundamental right is a serious punishable offence.

In April 2012, Ambikesh Mahapatra and Subrata Sengupta were arrested for forwarding a cartoon in an email that ridiculed West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. [ix] In November 2012, Shaheen Dhada and Renu Srinivasan were arrested for posting a Facebook status update that questioned the shutdown of Mumbai following the death of Shiv Sena chief, Bal Thackeray. [x] A friend who had “liked” her post was also arrested. In March 2015, Uttar Pradesh Police officers arrested a Class XI student in Rampur for making offensive remarks against UP Minister, Azam Khan, on Facebook. [xi] These arrests were made in the backdrop of Section 66A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. However, the Supreme Court quashed this section in the leading case of Shreya Singhal v. Union of India [xii] on the ground that it was arbitrary and unconstitutional, thereby upholding the freedom of speech and expression.

The Supreme Court has declared that the Right to Privacy is intertwined and correlated with the fundamental right to life and personal liberty enshrined under Article 21 of the Constitution. The Apex Court has identified the encroachment upon individuals’ privacy with national programmes such as the 12-digit UID (Unique Identity Number) scheme, DNA profiling, the National Encryption Policy in a number of cases. In September 2018, the Supreme Court of India struck down portions of the Aadhaar Act which did not fulfil the triple test of proportionality, legality and necessity in the landmark case of Justice K.S. Puttaswamy (Retd.) v Union of India and Ors. [xiii] As part of the authentication process, the individual was required to provide their biometric information which was recorded at a central database, arguably building a defined framework for a surveillance state. Therefore, the Supreme Court denied the use of individual Aadhaar numbers by any private entities for establishing the identity of the individual concerned for any purpose on the sole ground of infringement of the right to privacy.

In another case of Faheema Shirin RK v. State of Kerala and Others , [xiv] the High Court of Kerala declared that the right to access ‘Internet is a fundamental right to education as well as the right to privacy under Article 21 of the Constitution’. [xv] However, citing ‘national security’ as reason, 80 shutdowns were imposed in India in 2019. [xvi] Internet shutdowns are a ‘blatant violation of human rights law’ [xvii] promoting to build a totalitarian state. The Central Government has a right to impose reasonable restrictions on the Right to Freedom of Expression in circumstances provided under Article 19 (2) of the Indian Constitution. However, in the light of the shutdowns in the state of Jammu and Kashmir lasting for almost 10 months, internet shutdowns have become a common tool to curb debates, oppositions and protests against the Government.

During the challenging times of COVID-19 lockdown, latest news related to breach of privacy, cyberbullying and social media harassment emerged on the digital platform. In the recent “Boys Locker room” incident, a group chat was made on the social platform of Instagram where a bunch of male students from different premium schools of Delhi shared objectionable pictures of underage girls, body shaming them and passing comments about gang-raping them. These group chats, promoting rape culture, went viral on the digital platform ultimately violating the rights of these minor girls. However, the Delhi Police Cyber Cell identified and held almost all the members associated with the group and examined them after the Delhi Commission of Women issued legal notices to the police and Instagram over the incident. [xviii] These are the few instances in which the Government, State agencies and individuals have invaded the rights of another individual by violating their privacy either by harassment or cyberbullying, curtailed freedom of speech and expression by making arrests over social media posts, the denial of access to the internet for criticising government policies like in the cases of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and The National Register of Citizens (NRC).

All human rights are “indivisible, interdependent and interrelated,” [xix] and the development of one right facilitates the progress of the others while the deprivation of one deteriorates the others. In the present digital age, good governance cannot be achieved without the proper implementation of digital service. The first steps to address the challenges of digital age could be an approach to view people as an individual holder of rights, empowering individuals to voice their opinions, and creating a solid legal environment to enforce rights and seek redressal in case of any abuse of a right. It must be ensured that every digital medium complies with principles of transparency, fairness, accountability and redress. With the collective efforts of the Government, International Organisations, social media platforms, private and public sectors, judiciary and NGOs, a robust mechanism can be adopted to protect human rights against any misuse of personal data and information.

Internet – A boon or bane to human beings

The Internet is a common thing these days. And students always get to write an essay on this topic. So, here is an essay that talks about the pros and cons of the internet. I am discussing both aspects of the internet in this essay.

Today, everyone knows about the internet. Ask a small child about sending photos or videos, and he can guide you in doing that through WhatsApp, Bluetooth or even through apps like Shareit, Zender, etc. Smartphones, our best means for browsing the internet, have become commonplace and it would be really tough for us if they are somehow snatched away from us. Though the internet is of immense help, it is also important to understand how at times, it can be detrimental to us. Let us now see both sides of the coin, namely the internet. The Internet has been a boon to us. Let us see how. Internet – A boon Vast resources Internet opens us to a wide source of knowledge. We can now explore the internet for a lot of things. We have to just search and find answers to all our queries. It helps students, especially research students, in knowing more about their respective subjects. We can also know about the places we have never been to and the people we have never met. Easy communication Communication has been made so simple and easy by the internet. We need not send letters or telegrams anymore. Messages and documents can be sent in seconds using e-mail, chat and various social media platforms. This way of sending messages and documents is common not only for the general public but also for office communications. Video conferencing With the help of video conferencing, we can see the other person. This way, we get the feeling that the other person is very near to us. This also helps in conducting business meetings without anyone having to move from his office. Reports and presentations can also be given immediately. Services delivered at doorstep Many e-commerce sites have opened up online portals these days. We can see the different products right on our screen without having to go out anywhere. This helps in saving time, and more importantly, these sites also deliver the products right at our doorsteps. With return and replacement policies offered by almost every e-retailer, we need not worry about defects or damage to the products. No queues any more The internet has made our lives a lot easier. We need not stand in long queues for railway tickets, cinema tickets or to pay bills for electricity, water, gas or even phone. The school and college fees can also be paid online. These online payments can be done instantly and very easily, sitting in the comfort of our home or office. On top of it, we need not wait for the counters or windows to open at a specified time. We can do the transaction anytime we want. Reduction in the use of paper Internet has contributed to the reduction in the usage of paper in schools, colleges, offices, railways, businesses, training centres, shops, etc. This is good for Mother Nature. Online courses Many online courses have also come up these days, especially for those who are not able to attend the regular courses due to work or some other commitments. However, every technology has its demerits. The Internet has its own demerits as well. Internet – A bane Students take up the easy way Many students misuse the internet. They do not try to find solutions to the questions given by their teachers on their own. Rather, they take up the easy way and try to search the internet for the answer. This limits their thinking and creative capabilities. Heavy risk to children Children are not able to judge right from wrong. They tend to spend a lot of time on endless games and in the virtual world. These activities not only create a risk to their eyes and innocent minds but also hamper their communication skills in the real world. They are also likely to lose their interest in studies. Encourages illegal activities Internet provides data and information in a large quantity. No doubt, many miscreants make illegal use of the internet to make some easy money. Fear from internet hackers Many hackers take advantage of the internet and disturb the peace of common people, government, institutions and businesses. So, the internet has many negative things with it. But, if we human beings use it properly and carefully, the internet can be a friend of ours. We should always remember to master the technology, but never allow technology to master us.

A good article from the author. Every coin will have two sides. In the same way, all the points or all the available facilities will have good things as well as bad things also. It is the individual who has to use the available facility for his benefit. The Internet has brought a huge change in our lives. This has made the information available to you on your fingertips. Earlier days we were sitting in the library days together to get the information and the latest position of an issue. But these days you will get that information within seconds and you will get the full information based on the keywords you use for your search. Sending information from one place to another place has become so fast that within no time we can send the information to a person who is away from us and distance is never an issue. Thus we can see many advantages from the internet but we should restrain ourselves from using this for unwanted issues and get the maximum benefit out of it.

The internet indeed has some disadvantages, but at the same time, the internet has become a necessity. Now it has become very easy to get the application and information for the jobs. You can easily learn about any job with the help of the job portal website from home. These days, the convenience of working from home is also an advantage of the internet.

Artificial Intelligence – Boon or Bane

Artificial Intelligence is a branch of computer science that deals with the development of machines that can perform tasks that require human intelligence like speech recognition, language translation, and decision making. Artificial Intelligence is said to be the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think and perform tasks like humans. There are various real-life applications of Artificial Intelligence they are as follows:

1. Gaming: In strategic games like Chess the machine is programmed such that it can generate its moves and also study the moves of its opponents and decide which movie to be made next.

2. Speech Recognition: Some systems can recognize the language spoken by humans and respond in the same way by grasping the accent, grammar, etc. These types of speech recognition systems are present in our smartphones and home devices. Some examples of speech recognition systems are Google Now, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa.

3. Handwriting Recognition: Handwriting Text Recognition system in the machine enables it to read handwriting and transform into editable text.

4. Robotics: Robotics is a branch of science and engineering which deals with construction, design, and programming of robots. Robots are the most sophisticated and complex inventions of humans to date. Robots are capable of carrying out a series of a complex tasks. They are efficient in their tasks as they can multitask as well and save time doing so. They have vast memory space and can adjust to their environment.

With the growth in AI, there is a debate that whether AI is a boon or a bane. Some factors support AI to be a boon as well as a bane.

Factors that support AI to be a Boon:

  • Ease in Availability: Machines do not require refreshment like humans and can work for a longer period. They are capable of performing tasks and work continuously and produce quality output.
  • Daily Usage: Currently the most widely used machine in our daily life is a smartphone, which results knowingly and unknowingly using the benefits of AI. A few examples that demonstrate the use of AI in our daily life are speech recognition system used in our search engine on our smartphones, GPS used for navigation and fingerprint recognition and face recognition system in our smartphone for security.
  • Performing Complex Tasks: For a human performing tedious task is time-consuming. AI algorithms are developed to perform complex tasks. Machines are capable of performing multiple tasks at a particular period and function faster than humans.
  • Virtual Assistants: Virtual assistants communicate with various users, thus resulting in less use of manpower. As machines do not have emotions they perform more logically and efficiently and thus arrive at the right decision.

AI as a Bane:

  • Incurs High Cost: With the use of AI the productivity enhances and efficient results are obtained but huge costs are incurred in the process as machines are very complex and complicated in their training. And machines require regular maintenance at a particular point of time thus resulting in bigger costs to incur.
  • Lack of Experience: Humans depend upon their experience and perform accordingly in the future whereas do not have experience. Machines act according to the algorithm that is set for its functioning. They do not react with the environment and this what creates the difference between machines and humans.
  • Unemployment: The growing concern in the global economy today is that will AI completely take over human jobs. To enhance the productivity enterprises are adopting AI-based technologies that are now replacing human jobs and making us more dependent on machines. This would lead to a major loss in the ability of thinking and result in creativity and ideas.

AI will grow further in the future and shape our lives. It has its advantages and disadvantages. It has the factors that support it be a boon or bane. But still, there is a debate whether it will be a boon or a bane. We’ll come to know in the future whether it proves to be boon or bane.

Essay on Artificial Intelligence – a boon or bane

We are in an era of rapid technological advancement, where artificial intelligence (AI) is changing how we live and work. You may have heard of popular AI models like ChatGPT, MidJourney, and others that have made headlines in year 2023 for their impressive capabilities, such as text-to-speech, text-to-image, and text-to-video.

Indeed, thousands of people have lost their jobs due to the proliferation of chatbots and other AI-powered systems. This has led to a debate over whether AI is a boon or a bane for society. In this essay, we will explore both sides of this issue and examine the potential benefits and drawbacks of AI.

Students must stay exam-ready by reading these types of essays based on current affairs .

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a rapidly growing field that is revolutionizing the way we live, work, and communicate. AI is a type of technology designed to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as understanding natural language, recognizing images, and making decisions. Some people believe AI is a boon, while others consider it a bane. In this essay, we will explore both sides of the argument.

On one hand, AI can be seen as a boon. AI has the potential to revolutionize industries such as healthcare, education, and transportation. In healthcare, AI can help doctors diagnose diseases more accurately and quickly. In the educational field, AI can personalize learning experiences for each student based on their strengths and weaknesses. In the transportation sector, AI can help reduce traffic accidents and congestion by enabling self-driving cars.

AI can also make our lives more convenient. Virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa can help us manage our schedules, answer questions, and control our home devices with just our voice. AI-powered chatbots can help businesses provide better customer service by answering frequently asked questions and resolving issues more quickly.

On the other hand, AI can also be seen as a bane. One of the main concerns about AI is that it could potentially take over jobs that humans currently do. For example, self-driving cars could eliminate the need for taxi and truck drivers. AI-powered robots could replace workers in factories and warehouses. This could lead to job losses and economic instability.

Another concern is that AI could be used for malicious purposes. AI could be used to create fake news and spread disinformation. It could also be used to build autonomous weapons that could make decisions without human intervention.

In conclusion, AI is a complex and multifaceted technology that can be both a boon and a bane. While AI can revolutionize industries, improve our lives, and make our world a better place, we must also be mindful of potential risks and challenges associated with this technology. As we continue to develop and integrate AI into our lives, it is important that we carefully consider the ethical implications and strive to create a future where AI serves the common good.

If you were an ex-employee of Google, Meta, Alphabet or Microsoft, you would have surely termed Artificial intelligence a bane. On the other hand, for a graphic designer who has started earning a handsome amount of money with the help of Mid journey, artificial intelligence is no less than a boon or blessing for him.

Essay on Modern Gadgets A Boon Or Bane

Students are often asked to write an essay on Modern Gadgets A Boon Or Bane in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on Modern Gadgets A Boon Or Bane

Introduction to modern gadgets.

Modern gadgets are tools like smartphones, tablets, and laptops. They are part of our daily life. Many people use them for work, learning, and fun. But some ask if they are good or bad for us.

Gadgets as Helpers

Gadgets can be very helpful. They let us talk to friends far away and find information quickly. Students can learn new things with just a few clicks. Life seems easier with these tools.

Possible Problems

On the flip side, gadgets can cause issues. People, especially kids, might use them too much. This can lead to less time outside or with family. Eyes and sleep can suffer too.

Balance is Key

It’s important to balance. Gadgets can be friends if we use them right. Set limits and take breaks. This way, we enjoy the benefits without the downsides.

250 Words Essay on Modern Gadgets A Boon Or Bane

The good side of modern gadgets.

Modern gadgets like smartphones, tablets, and laptops have changed our lives in many good ways. They help us to talk to friends and family who live far away. We can also learn new things by searching the internet and watching videos. These gadgets make it easy to find our way when we are lost and can quickly call for help in an emergency.

The Bad Side of Modern Gadgets

Even though gadgets can be helpful, they also have a bad side. Many people, especially kids, spend too much time on their phones or playing video games. This can make them less active and harm their eyes. Sometimes, people also use gadgets to say mean things to others online, which can hurt feelings.

It’s important to find a balance. Gadgets should be used to help us learn and stay in touch, but not take over our lives. It’s good to spend time outside, play sports, and talk to people face-to-face. This way, we can enjoy the good things gadgets offer without facing the bad effects.

In the end, whether modern gadgets are a boon or bane depends on how we use them. They can be a great help if we use them in the right way. But if we let them control our lives, they can become a problem. It’s up to us to use gadgets wisely and make sure they are a boon to our lives.

500 Words Essay on Modern Gadgets A Boon Or Bane

In today’s world, we are surrounded by modern gadgets that have changed the way we live. From smartphones to laptops, and from smartwatches to drones, these tools have become a big part of our daily lives. They help us to do many things easily and quickly. But are these gadgets good for us, or can they also cause problems? Let’s look at both sides of this question.

Gadgets can be a great help in our lives. For example, a smartphone lets us talk to friends, find information on the internet, and take pictures, all with one device. It’s like having a phone, a library, and a camera in your pocket. Students can use tablets for reading and learning new things. Even at home, gadgets like washing machines and microwaves make chores faster and easier.

Gadgets can also keep us safe. For instance, GPS systems in cars can help us find our way without getting lost. Health gadgets like fitness trackers tell us how much we move each day and can even check our heart rate.

Gadgets and Fun

Gadgets are not just for work; they are also for fun. Video games on consoles or computers can be a way to relax and enjoy time with friends. With the internet, we can watch movies, listen to music, and read books anytime we want. These gadgets make it easy to have a good time.

Problems with Gadgets

Even though gadgets have many good points, they can also cause problems. Spending too much time on screens can hurt our eyes and make us less active. When kids play video games all day, they might not go outside to play or exercise. This can lead to health issues like being overweight.

Another problem is that people can become too dependent on gadgets. If we always use GPS, we might never learn to read a map. If students always use calculators, they might not learn to do math in their heads. It’s important to remember that gadgets should help us, not do everything for us.

Being Safe with Gadgets

Using gadgets also means we need to be safe. We should not share personal information on the internet because it can be dangerous. Parents should teach their kids about being safe online and set rules for using gadgets.

So, are modern gadgets a boon or a bane? The answer is that they can be both. Gadgets can help us, make life easier, and give us fun things to do.
