आइये रक्षा बंधन से जुड़े कुछ रोचक तथ्य जान लेते हैं –

• रक्षा बंधन को देशभर में ” राखी पूर्णिमा “, या “राखी”, या “राखरी” के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। 

• बहन अपने भाई की कलाई पर जो धागा बांधती है वह बहुत शुभ होता है। धागा रक्षा बंधन में ‘बंधन’ भाग को दर्शाता है। यह दो-भाग वाले बंधन को दर्शाता है और सुरक्षा या ‘रक्षा’ का प्रतीक है, जो छोटी बहन अपने भाई से चाहती है।
• राखी का पवित्र धागा सिर्फ बहनें ही अपने भाइयों को नहीं बांधती हैं। भारत के कुछ क्षेत्रों, जैसे उत्तर प्रदेश, में राखी बहन अपनी भाभी को भी बांधती है। इन राखियों को लुंबा राखी कहा जाता है । साथ ही जिन बहनों की बहनें होती हैं वे एक-दूसरे को राखी बांधती हैं। यही बात केवल भाई-बहन जोड़े पर लागू होती है।
• रक्षा बंधन के बारे में एक और दिलचस्प तथ्य जो बहुत से लोगों को नहीं पता है वह यह है कि रक्षा बंधन श्रावण के आखिरी दिन पड़ता है, इसलिए भक्त समुद्र में नारियल प्रार्थना करके भगवान विष्णु के प्रति अपना सम्मान व्यक्त करते हैं। चूंकि महाराष्ट्र एक तटीय क्षेत्र है, इसलिए रक्षा बंधन के दिन को वहां नारियल पूर्णिमा के दिन के रूप में भी जाना जाता है। उनके अपने रीति-रिवाज हैं, जिन्हें महाराष्ट्र के लोग अपने तरीके से निभाते हैं।
• हिंदू पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, जब भगवान इंद्र राक्षसों से लड़ने जा रहे थे, तो उनकी पत्नी इंद्राणी ने उनकी कलाई पर एक धागा बांधा था। साथ ही रिश्ते की अहमियत भी बदल गई और बहन ने अपने भाई की कलाई पर रक्षा सूत्र बांधा।

• इस तथ्य के पीछे की पूरी कहानी बहुत कम लोग जानते हैं। इस कथा के अनुसार एक बार पतंग उड़ाते समय भगवान कृष्ण का हाथ कट गया। यह देखकर द्रौपदी ने तुरंत अपनी साड़ी से कपड़े का एक टुकड़ा फाड़कर कृष्ण को बांध दिया। बदले में, भगवान कृष्ण ने द्रौपदी को किसी भी परिस्थिति में रक्षा करने का वादा किया। बाद में, भगवान कृष्ण ने चीर हरण के दौरान द्रौपदी की रक्षा की।
• हरियाणा में, राज्य त्योहार से एक दिन पहले और त्योहार के दिन महिलाओं के लिए मुफ्त बस यात्रा की घोषणा करता है ताकि वे अपने भाई के घर जा सकें और त्योहार मना सकें। इतना ही नहीं, अठारह साल या उससे कम उम्र के पुरुष वयस्क को भी महिला के साथ मुफ्त यात्रा की अनुमति है।
• ऐसा माना जाता है कि भगवान विष्णु ने राक्षस राजा बलि को वरदान दिया था कि वह उनके महल में ही रहेगा, लेकिन देवी लक्ष्मी ऐसा नहीं करना चाहती थीं। उन्होंने बाली को राखी बांधी और बदले में उनसे भगवान विष्णु को जाने देने को कहा।
• राखी का त्यौहार बहनों और भाइयों के बीच एक सार्वभौमिक बंधन का प्रतिनिधित्व करने की अपनी सुंदर प्रकृति के कारण संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका, श्रीलंका, नेपाल, मॉरीशस और संयुक्त अरब अमीरात में मनाया जाता है।

• यह मुख्य रूप से भारत और दुनिया भर में हिंदुओं और जैनियों द्वारा मनाया जाता है। फिर भी, यह मुस्लिम, सिख, बौद्ध और ईसाई सहित अन्य धर्मों द्वारा भी संयुक्त रूप से आयोजित किया जाता है।
• नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता रवीन्द्रनाथ टैगोर ने 1905 में बंगाल विभाजन के दौरान हिंदुओं और मुस्लिम समुदाय के बीच शांति और सद्भाव बनाए रखने के लिए रक्षाबंधन त्योहार का इस्तेमाल किया।

रक्षा बंधन का त्योहार इस साल दोनों दिन यानी बुधवार, 30 अगस्त और गुरुवार, 31 अगस्त को मनाया जाएगा।

रक्षा बंधन भाई बहनों के बीच निःस्वार्थ प्रेम का त्योहार है। रक्षाबंधन एक परंपरागत भारतीय त्योहार है जिसमें बहन अपने भाई के कलाई पर रक्षा बंधती है और उनकी लम्बी आयु और सुरक्षा की कामना करती है।

रक्षा बंधन की शुरुआत लगभग 6 हजार वर्ष पहले होने का अनुमान लगाया जाता है।

रक्षा बंधन श्रावण महीने की पूर्णिमा को मनाया जाता है, जो भारतीय हिन्दू पंचांग के अनुसार आता है (जुलाई या अगस्त महीने में)।

रक्षाबंधन में बहन अपने भाई के कलाई पर राखी बांधती है, जो एक परिप्रेक्ष्य में आभूषण होता है। इसके बाद, वे एक दूसरे को मिठाइयों और उपहारों के साथ बधाई देते हैं।
