It is an honor for me to join a school which is known for its welcoming environment as well as an amazing student body. Sumedha College is a school of very good reputation in the country. Dr. Harindu Wijesinghe

Our vision at Sumedha College is to develop world class Sri Lankans. Citizens possessing traditional values but with skills to succeed in life and in any profession. To achieve this our students are provideda comprehensive education with a thorough knowledge in English and encouraged to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities while maintaining discipline and cultural values at all times.

We encourage participation in extracurricular activities which includesports, clubs and society activities, aesthetic activities and many more. These activities help students to succeed in life by teaching them a separate set of skillswhich are outside the school curricular. These activities teach skillssuch asworking with others, leadership, planning, setting goals, adhering to discipline and maintaining one’s focus and determination to name a few. These skills also enable individuals to maintain a state of mental well-being,and adapt positively to the situations they encounter, and also teach them how to interact with othersfrom different cultures.

Our founding Chairman Dr Wilfred Wijesinghe, our board members,along with our dedicated staff, have provided you with a great educational institution with many sporting facilities in a beautiful environment. The education given at Sumedha college by our excellent teaching staff combined with the extensive extracurricular activities available, will enable our students to succeed in any professionof their choice in the years to come.

Deputy Principal's Message

Let me start by saying “Congratulations………..!”

It gives me a great pride to send this message of good wishes to the web site of Sumedha College Gampaha, as the Deputy Principal of the school.

I strongly believe that Education and Technology goes hand in hand in the process of teaching and learning, and it helps the world to go beyond possibilities especially with the advancement of the ICT. It is the Information and Communication Technology that has brought the world together by making the globe a tiny village and it has given a great opportunity for our younger generation to improve and share knowledge to experiment the impossibilities of the world through this stream of study.

The history of Sumedha College goes back more than 17 years, and the prestigious history Sumedha College is filled with innumerable memories of grand occasions, yet this is of another successful outcome to mark a golden mile post which will take the name of our school across the oceans and beyond the skies.

Organize an event of this nature needs a lot of dedication and devotion and I would like to thank them all for making this a success. This shows the spirit of team work, which is an essential need of the era.

Dr. Wilfred Wijesinghe

Dr. Waharalagama Appuhamilage Quitun Wilfred Wijesinghe (MBBs, MRCP, FCCP) popularly known as Dr. Wijesinghe was born on the 17th February 1942. He was educated at Veyangoda Central College and the 4th student selected for the Medical Faculty, Colombo through free education system in Sri Lanka. Then onwards he started soaring up in the medical field initially doing his post graduate education in Great Britain and was awarded MRCP. He was also awarded with FCCP by Medical Council of Sri Lanka for his great service to the medical field. His services at the Gampaha Base Hospital and Homagama Government Hoaspital from 1979 to 1985 as a specialist Medical Physician need praiseworthy . Later he resigned from the government service with the view to opening a Private Hospital “Nawaloka” which was at that time a long - felt need. The financial assistance by his beloved father-in-law Late Deshamanya Deshabandu H.K. Dharmadasa, popularly known as Nawaloka Mudalali needs special mention. The younger daughter of Late Mr. H.K. Dharmadasa, Mrs. Priyani Wijesinghe is his beloved wife and they are blessed with three children. The two sons following the foot path of the father are now renowned Consultant Physicians - eldest Harindu Wijesinghe being a Rhematologist while the younger Chamara Wijesinghe a Psychiatrist and a Senior Lecturer Ragama Medical College. The only daughter- Sayuri Wijesinghe is an eminent IT Engineer and he is very fortunate to see his own and seven Grand Children doing well in life. His keen interest as the General Manager of Nawaloka Hospital to upgrade standard of the hospital paved the way to its clients to enjoy all the modern facilities that are available in highly developed countries. He is the person who introduced CT Scanner, Intensive Care Unit and the Accidental Care Unit to the private hospital against the threatening atmosphere of the State medical sector.
