We recently launched a new Document Download Manager feature compatible with Google Chrome, the browser of choice for the majority of Scopus users. The Document Download Manager allows you to select one or more abstract and then automatically download the PDF full-text version(s), from publisher web sites.

Chrome 42 issues with Scopus Document Download Manager

The latest version of Chrome, version 42, has switched the Java plugin off by default. If you have upgraded to Chrome 42 and you are unable to download documents on Scopus please follow the steps below to reactivate the Java plugin. This is a temporary solution while we work on a better long term solution. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Enabling NPAPI in Chrome to download documents with DDM

HUL subscribes to many Elsevier eBooks, viewable in the ScienceDirect database. 

You can search for available Elsevier eBooks by going directly to Elsevier's  ScienceDirect  resource. 

Alternatively, you can browse the full list of  ScienceDirect eBooks .

How to Download Elsevier eBooks from ScienceDirect

For desktop/notebook computers:.

• If you have an Adobe reader installed, you can download a book/chapter by simply clicking on the PDF icon/link that appears below the title/author information in the search results view.  
• If you want to download multiple pdfs from the search results view, you can check the boxes next to the titles you want and use the "Download PDFs" button instead. 
• Alternatively, if you click into a title to read the full text first, you can then download the PDF using the "Download PDF" button found at the top of the full text reading page:

For Mobile Devices/eReaders:

You can save individual chapters in ePUB or Mobipocket, formats widely used by electronic readers and mobile devices.

To do so, you must first click into the title to open its full text display in ScienceDirect. Then, click on the "Export" drop-down menu and select your eReader format from the menu (at the bottom, under "Export Full-text").

*Note: ScienceDirect provides full-text for all content, but in some cases no HTML version is available and the full-text document must be downloaded as a PDF file. These PDF-only items are not available in Mobi or ePub format. For more information, click here .

Often we have reported that most of the research papers published by some reputed journals are paid. If anyone wants to download such manuscripts, he needs to pay to access such papers.

SCI Hub allows downloading and reading such papers for free . Sci-H ub contains most of the academic and scientific papers. What one has to do is visit the site after finding the research paper link or DOI of the journal article . You can paste the DOI or URL in the search button and click search. If the paper is available, a preview will be shown. You can download this paper and use it for your reference.
