What is logiqids app                                               .

LogiQids delivers a daily training activity that takes up to 15 minutes. Its purpose is to improve kids' cognitive skills and logical reasoning through various categories of questions within a gamified structure.

The LogiQid app is a standalone product, but it is also linked to a broader platform available through its website. This platform includes LogiQids Aptitude Development Program and LogiQids Mental Aptitude Test. If your kids benefit from using the app, you could choose to look further into this.

Within the app, there are practice games which are colourful challenges that address different problem solving and reasoning skills. There are also the worksheets which form the main tasks within the app.

The app provides the means for teachers and parents to monitor children's progress and has incentives for kids to persist and progress.

What we love about LogiQids app.

LogiQids is fun to play. The games and worksheets are easy to fit into short play times but still feel like they are giving the player a good mental workout. 

The feedback from each question is excellent in its intention, although occasionally poorly phrased. The user can view the author's reasoning behind each question, whether they have answered it correctly or not. This lets players learn even when they have chanced on the correct answer or when they couldn't work it out.

When we look at some apps, for example, a math app, we can tell what skills and knowledge it addresses. When the benefits of an app's exercises are more subtle or less familiar, it is useful for the app to explain its objectives, something LogiQids does well.

The exercises and games in LogiQids each start with a summary of key benefits. For students, this is great to give them a sense of purpose; for teachers and parents, it is helpful to know what skill their child is currently developing.

The app links together community involvement, quality assurances, and user support through a link at the bottom of each worksheet. Here you can report a typo, ask a question, make a suggestion, or report an incorrect question. You might feel that error correction is a developer's responsibility, but this approach will help refine the product to everyone's benefit and, in many cases, reported errors are likely to be user misunderstandings.

What skills does it improve?

LogiQids describes itself as a brain-training platform that helps kids develop problem-solving, decision-making, spatial reasoning, and logic skills.

What age is it appropriate for?

LogiQids targets a broad age range and has worksheets suitable for kids from about 6 to 15. 

Is LogiQids app easy to use?

LogiQids has a clear design that makes it easy to navigate through the app. Kids can get to practice games or worksheets quickly when they open the app. 

How will students benefit?

LogiQids use gamification to encourage kids to carry out their daily training sessions. The gamification includes game-like graphics, the potential to earn gems to spend in the game, and the awards of achievements like certificates, streaks, and XP points.

If you are wary of brain-training apps due to the dubious claims made by many of them, LogiQids makes more measured promises. Its challenges get kids thinking about problems different from typical school-subject questions.

This is something teachers often try to do with projects, puzzles, and investigations. Sadly, time for such explorations is often limited in crowded school curricula, so LogiQids is a valuable supplement to school-based learning. It will help develop additional skills rather than duplicate school-based education.

How will teachers benefit?

The app lets users look at past worksheets, see the questions and look at the solutions. This feature will let teachers go through the worksheets with kids and talk to them about their thinking and approach to each puzzle.

How will parents benefit?

Parents want value for money, and, in the case of educational apps, this is gained from their kids using the app consistently and improving. 

LogiQids does a good job of encouraging kids to use it and then reporting back to parents and teachers. Alongside the other gamified elements of the app, the badges give kids achievable goals and a satisfying record of how far they have come. Kids can choose their goals and stretch their ability— such as completing a seven-day streak or achieving a 90% proficiency in a skill.

These same badges show parents how well kids have progressed. You'll be able to tell that kids have been working on the app and not merely spending time in it. Kids can't just start an exercise and come back to it later as the app will pause if it is minimised. 

What can LogiQids app improve on?

The app's onboarding process felt a little too intrusive, with there not appearing to be any reason for requesting as many details as it did. It asked for children's full names, including middle and last names and the device's telephone number. 

None of these should be required on a children's app. 

Furthermore, while it is not part of the sign-up process nor compulsory, the app promises to reward kids with a special surprise if they enter their date of birth. At the time of this review, the most recent update to the app promotes a feature where kids can share free worksheets when it is their birthday month.

When kids select this option, they will be asked for the day, month, and year of their birth. There is no reason an educational app should need the day for levelling purposes, and encouraging kids to enter personal details with a promise of a reward is not a good example to set. 

In short, while LogiQids is trying to create a personalised experience, it needs to take a more considered approach and filter out the unnecessary details. For example, the birthday month need not be one month beginning from the birthday but just the calendar month in which it falls.

Occasionally the choices of words used in LogiQids could confuse. A good example of this can be seen on the app's website, where you are asked to identify how many 'alphabets' are within a given symbol. 'Letters' would be the correct word and make the task less confusing at the outset. Similarly, one of the worksheets uses the word 'corners', which is not precise enough for the question asked.

The worksheets use diagrams which have either been taken from paper worksheets or digital images that are too low in resolution for modern devices. The black-and-white images often show indistinct, blurry, or pixelated parts. Some are clearly in a less-appropriate format because they predate their use in the app. The magnification option does not help as it shows an image of the same size.

Good to know

You need to sign your child up for the app's service, but they need to complete an assessment that forms their baseline when you have done this. Don't be tempted to fill this in yourself, as you'll skew the app's training program making it unsuitable for your child.

You need to maintain this approach in the future too. LogiQids uses an algorithm to determine which questions a child must answer. If you give them help or have a go at solving them yourself, the app's data for setting the correct level will not accurately reflect your child's level.

How much does LogiQids app cost?

You can download the LogiQids app for free. 

What is included with the free version vs. paid?

Premium purchases in LogiQids involve purchasing extra worksheets. You can buy these in various quantities, with higher amounts being cheaper per worksheet. Kids can also earn gems within the app to unlock more games and bonus worksheets.

Is LogiQIds app safe to use?

LogiQids' homepage encourages kids to get their friends to sign up for the service by promising them five gems if they refer their friends. The referral button leads to the device's communication apps. Kids can also send their scores from each worksheet or game to their contacts using the share button in the app.

There are no third-party advertisements in LogiQids.

LogiQids asks for more data than we think is necessary—see the section above on how the app might be improved.

Overall rating of the app.

LogiQids is a comprehensive reasoning and problem-solving app. It has variety and a good quantity of questions to test and develop kids. It still needs further refinement, though. Its conversion from a worksheet-based platform to an app holds back its graphical fidelity, and its sometimes awkward phrasing could confuse users, especially younger ones. We'd also like to see the app ask for less personal data, even if it doesn't insist on it.

Nevertheless, LogiQids is a solid foundation that provides excellent thinking exercises that are interesting, fun, and different from what kids will do at school. LogiQids is a four-star app well on its way to becoming a five-star app.

How do Psychometric Reasoning Tests Work?

In general, psychometric reasoning tests challenge users to answer a series of questions and compare their performance on a test with the average performance level of a reference or ‘norm’ group.

This is typically made up of individual with similar characteristics, such as education level, nationality or workplace seniority.

If you do better than most of the norm group you will receive a high score, whereas a low score suggests that your performance was weaker than most of the norm group.

Usually, a minimum standard of performance necessary for success in a role is identified at the start of an assessment process, and all candidates that don’t meet this level will be unable to progress through the process.

What makes Capp Assessment Tests Different?

Capp Assessments are ‘Next Generation’ psychometric aptitude tests ; this means they might look and feel a bit different to other psychometric tests you have completed in the past.

The main difference between the Capp tests and more traditional psychometric ability tests is that the Capp tests are responsive.

This means that the actual questions presented to a candidate will depend upon their performance on the previous questions.

Capp say that the responsiveness of their tests and the size of their question bank mean that the chances of two candidates taking exactly the same test is currently less than one in a billion .

In practice, this means that if you’ve been able to quickly and accurately solve the previous questions, you can expect to be presented with incrementally more challenging questions.

By contrast, if you have made a number of errors, the test will present questions at a lower level.

The aim of the tests is to work out what your maximum ability is. Or put another way, what the most challenging level you are capable of working at is.

Another thing that makes Capp Tests feel different is that they have no time limit (although the time you take to complete the test does effect the score so you still need to work as quickly as you can).

This takes a bit of the pressure off and can make taking these tests rather less stressful than others.

Finally, the variety of question types and the format of the questions in Capp Tests can be different to those used by more traditional test publishers.

• Numerical Reasoning Tests

Traditionally numerical reasoning tests require candidates to select the correct answer from a number of potential options.

The Capp numerical reasoning test still does this, but it also requires candidates to rank potential answers or to type their answer into a free-text box.

This makes it harder to guess the correct answers.

• Verbal Reasoning Tests

Verbal reasoning tests typically give you a passage of text to read and then ask you whether a number of subsequent statements are true or false, based on the information contained in the passage.

This question type is included within the Capp Verbal Reasoning Test, but there are also a number of different question formats included.

This means that as well as testing verbal reasoning, the Capp test can also assess verbal dexterity, comprehension, interpretation, and adaptability.

As well as traditional multiple choice questions, the test also presents:

• Free text editing : This type of question requires you to type your answers directly into the question. You might be asked to correct spellings or grammar, or edit a passage of text.
• Bucket sort : You will be presented with two categories/styles of writing; your task is to place each item presented to the category/style of writing that it best fits.
• Drag and Drop : This type of question requires you to drag statements or words to the place that they best fit.
• Ranking : These questions can be quite subtle and require you to really understand the nuance of language and language use. You will be presented with a number of statements and asked to rank these based on some feature of the text, such as positivity.
• Selecting the most appropriate word to fill in the sentence : You will be presented with a passage of text with a number of blanks in it, for each blank space you must select the most appropriate word to fill the space from a drop down menu.

Critical Reasoning Tests

In each instance, a passage of information is presented followed by a series of statements, your task is to select the appropriate response from the drop down menu.

iOS 18’s Big AI Update Could Automatically Solve Math Problems for You

Like predictive text, but for math equations.

WWDC 2024 hype season is upon us! We’re a little over a week away from Apple’s annual developer conference, where the company is expected to announce new versions of all of its platforms, including iOS 18 .

All rumors point to iOS 18 being the biggest update to the iPhone software in years, with generative AI as the headlining act. We’ve already heard of some obvious AI updates, like smart summaries, photo retouching, and automatic replies . However, a new report from AppleInsider suggests there’s even more AI in store. The Apple-focused publication says iOS 18 will get a “Catch Up” feature where Siri can provide an overview of recent notifications, cross-device media controls where you can activate Siri on one device to control another, and even the ability to create and edit images within iMessage using generative AI.

With all these leaked AI features, it might be easy to overlook perhaps the most underrated one: AI that can automatically solve math problems.

The Calculator functionality is going to be integrated into the Notes app.

No Need to Open Up the Calculator App

According to AppleInsider , a new feature called “Keyboard Math Predictions” will detect and automatically solve math equations that are entered as text. Think of this like your iPhone’s predictive text that finishes your sentences for you, but for math problems. On top of that, the Notes app will get a crash course in math, with the ability to recognize math equations and offer solutions with help from the Calculator app’s integration. Apple is also reportedly working on a way to generate graphs within the Notes app.

Apple’s AI isn’t the only one that can handle some math thrown its way. OpenAI previously announced GPT-4o, and the AI chatbot made easy work of an equation looking to solve for x. GPT-4o can even act as more of a personal tutor for more involved problems.

Fortunately, we only have to wait until Apple kicks off its WWDC 2024 on June 10 to see what’s in store with iOS 18. The software update won’t officially arrive until the fall, but Apple will share installable developer and public betas shortly after WWDC if you’re willing to deal with bugs and such throughout the summer.

Baby Dev’s father, Duane, a retired police officer, told NBC Insider he noticed something very special about his son early on: “At 4 months old, we realized his love for numbers.”

How did Devan develop his math skills?

Duane explained to NBC Insider how he nurtured his son’s penchant for math.

“At age 1, we had bought him a writing tablet. We would practice writing numbers with him from 1 to 10… and we would practice writing every day, and by 15 months old, he knew how to write numbers on his own.” After mastering addition, the math prodigy moved on to subtraction and his times tables.

“We can just be in bed, and he’ll be like… ‘Math, please. I wanna do math, please,’ and then he’ll go to his writing board and just do math equations,” said his dad, who noted that the little boy always loved counting everything. “Cars on the street, birds, trees… he has number magnets that he carries with him like it’s a toy.”

Baby Dev does not receive formal tutoring, and as one audience member pointed out, “He’s not even using his fingers” to count. However, he might have one strict requirement when calculating: Not being interrupted. As Baby Dev tackled a math problem and jotted down numbers, Howie Mandel loudly whispered, “We get to see the process.”

The toddler shot him a look that could freeze water. After a long pause and some shushing directed toward Mandel, Baby Dev continued on and solved the final equation. He was unanimously voted on to the next round — but he may have something extra on his plate, too.

When Simon asked, “Devon, will you help me negotiate my next deal?” the little cutie responded, “Yes!”

Obviously this charming youngster moved on to the next round of the competition where fans are surely eager to see what mathematical wizardry he'll come up with next.

Regarding performance, the InternLM2-Math-Plus models show significant improvement over existing models. The 1.8B model, for example, outperforms the MiniCPM-2B in the smallest size category. Similarly, the 7B model surpasses the Deepseek-Math-7B-RL, previously state-of-the-art open-source math reasoning models. Notably, the largest model, Mixtral8x22B, achieves top scores on MATH and GSM8K, indicating superior problem-solving capabilities.

The InternLM2-Math-Plus 1.8B model shows notable performance improvements with scores of 37.0 on MATH, 41.5 on MATH-Python, and 58.8 on GSM8K. The 7B variant enhances these results further, achieving 53.0 on MATH, 59.7 on MATH-Python, and 85.8 on GSM8K. The 20B model also performs impressively, scoring 53.8 on MATH, 61.8 on MATH-Python, and 87.7 on GSM8K. The largest model, Mixtral8x22B, achieves 68.5 on MATH and 91.8 on GSM8K.

Each variant of InternLM2-Math-Plus is designed to address specific needs in mathematical reasoning. The 1.8B model balances performance and efficiency, which is ideal for applications requiring robust yet compact models. The 7B model provides enhanced capabilities for more complex problem-solving tasks. The 20B model further pushes the boundaries of performance, making it suitable for highly demanding mathematical computations. The Mixtral8x22B model, with its extensive parameters, delivers unparalleled accuracy and precision, making it the go-to choice for the most challenging mathematical tasks.
