પ્રસ્તાવના : , આંતરરાષ્ટ્રિય મહિલા દિવસ શું છે તે શામાટે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે .

શું સમસ્યા હતી, જે આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તરે મહિલાઓને સન્માનિત કરવાનો દિવસ હતો તેની જાહેરાત કરવી પડી.  શું શરૂઆતથી જ મહિલાઓને સન્માન આપવાનો ઈરાદો હતો કે પછી તેઓએ પોતાની તકલીફોથી કંટાળીને ગુસ્સામાં આ દિવસની ઉજવણી શરૂ કરી?  સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં મહિલાઓને તેમના અધિકારો અને સન્માન મેળવવા માટે પડકારોનો સામનો કરવો પડ્યો હતો?  આ આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ અમે વિશ્વ ની સમગ્ર મહિલાઓની આર્થિક, સામાજિક , સાંસ્કૃતિક અને રાજકીય સિદ્ધીઓની ઉજવણી અને આનંદ કરીએ છીએ . આ દિવસ સ્ત્રી પુરુષ સમાનતા ને વેગ આપવા માટે વિશ્વભરમાં મહિલા ઓ એકત્રિત થઈ ને અનેક પ્રવૃતિ કરે છે .

સ્ત્રીઓ મજબૂત , શક્તિશાળી અ અજેય છે . દરરોજ મહિલાઓના અસ્તિત્વ ને પ્રેરણા આપવા હજારો મંત્રો સાથે , જીવનના તમામ પાસઓમાં મહિલાઓની સિદ્ધીઓની ઉજવણી કરવા માટે એક ખાસ દિવસ ખરેખર જરૂરી છે . પછી તે શિક્ષિકા હોય કે ગૃહિણી હોય , એંજીનિયર હોય કે પહેલવાન હોય મહિલાઓ પોતાની શક્તિ , દૃઢ વિશ્વાસ અને નિર્ણય થી આખા વિશ્વ ને વધુ સારી રીતે નિર્માણ કરી શકે છે . પિતૃસત્તા ના બંધનોને તોડી પાડવા માટે પૂરતી શક્તિ સાથે, સ્ત્રીઓ દરરોજ સામાજિક અવરોધોથી ઉપર વધી રહી છે , જે તેમણે આધુનિક સમયમાં ગણવા માટે એક મજબૂત બળ બનાવે છે .  

મહિલા દિવસની શુભેચ્છા

 “પુરુષ શિક્ષિત હોય તો ફક્ત પુરુષ શિક્ષિત થાય  છે, પરંતુ જ્યારે સ્ત્રી શિક્ષિત હોય છે તો પેઢી શિક્ષિત છે”

ઇતિહાસ, આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ ક્યારે અને શા માટે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે?

આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ ઇતિહાસ

• વર્ષ 1908માં ન્યૂયોર્કથી મહિલાઓ મોટી સંખ્યામાં એકત્ર થઈ હતી તેમના જુલમ અને અસમાનતા અંગે પરિવર્તન ની ઝુંબેશ કરવાનું શરૂ થયું .
• જ્યારે 15000 મહિલાઓ તેમની અમુક માંગો રાખી હતી જેવીકે તેમની નોકરીમાં સમય ઘટાડવાની માંગ સાથે માર્ચ કાઢી હતી. 
• આ સાથે તે મહિલાઓએ પોતાનો પગાર વધારવા અને મતદાનનો અધિકાર આપવાની પણ માંગ કરી હતી.
• 1909 આ દિવસને અમેરિકામાં રાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ તરીકે જાહેર કરવામાં આવ્યો.
• વર્ષ 1910 માં, ક્લેરા ઝેટકીને કામ કરતી મહિલાઓની આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય પરિષદ દરમિયાન આ દિવસને આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તરે ઉજવવાનું સૂચન કર્યું.
• આ કોન્ફરન્સમાં 17 દેશોમાંથી લગભગ 100 વર્કિંગ વુમન હાજર હતી, આ તમામ મહિલાઓએ ક્લેરા ઝેટકીનના સૂચનને સમર્થન આપ્યું હતું.
• વર્ષ 1911 માં, પ્રથમ વખત 19 માર્ચે, આ દિવસ ઘણા દેશોમાં એક સાથે ઉજવવામાં આવ્યો. આ રીતે તે પ્રથમ આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ હતો.  પરંતુ આજ સુધી તેની ઉજવણી માટે કોઈ દિવસ નક્કી કરવામાં આવ્યો ન હતો.
• 1917 માં, પ્રથમ વિશ્વ યુદ્ધ દરમિયાન, રશિયાની મહિલાઓએ, કંટાળીને ખોરાક અને શાંતિ (બ્રેડ એન્ડ પીસ) માટે વિરોધ કર્યો. આ વિરોધ એટલો સંગઠિત હતો કે સમ્રાટ નિકોસને તેમનું પદ છોડવાની ફરજ પડી હતી અને આ પછી અહીં મહિલાઓને મત આપવાનો અધિકાર મળ્યો હતો. 
• જે દિવસે રશિયન મહિલાઓએ આ હડતાલ શરૂ કરી તે 28 ફેબ્રુઆરી હતો અને ગ્રેગોરિયન કેલેન્ડરમાં તે 8 માર્ચ હતો, ત્યારથી 8 માર્ચને આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ તરીકે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે.
• આ બધું હોવા છતાં, તેને ઘણા વર્ષો પછી 1975 માં સત્તાવાર માન્યતા મળી, જે વર્ષથી સંયુક્ત રાષ્ટ્ર દ્વારા તેને એક થીમ સાથે ઉજવવાનું નક્કી કરવામાં આવ્યું. તેની પ્રથમ થીમ “ભૂતકાળની ઉજવણી અને ભવિષ્ય માટે આયોજન” હતી.

 આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસનો ઉદ્દેશ્ય અને મહત્વ

દર વર્ષે 8 માર્ચને આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ તરીકે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે . આ ની ઉજવણીના ઉદ્દેશ્યો સમય સાથે અને સમાજમાં મહિલાઓની બદલાતી સ્થિતિ સાથે બદલાતા રહ્યા છે.  તે સ્ત્રીની  સફળતા ની ઉજવણી અને પક્ષપાત સામે જાગૃતિ લાવવા વિશે છે . તે ઓધ્યોગિક વિશ્વમાં મહાન વિસ્તરણ અને ઉથળપથલ નો સમય હતો . જેમાં વસ્તી વૃદ્ધિ અને કટ્ટરપંથી વિચારધારા ઓનો ઉદય જોવા મળ્યો હતો .

તેથી આપણે બધાએ પરિવર્તન લાવવા માટે  લડાઈ કરવી જોઈએ . શરૂઆતમાં, જ્યારે 19મી સદીમાં તેની શરૂઆત કરવામાં આવી હતી, ત્યારે મહિલાઓને મત આપવાનો અધિકાર મળ્યો હતો, પરંતુ હવે સમય બદલાતા, તેનો હેતુ કંઈક આવો છે.

• મહિલાઓ અને પુરુષો વચ્ચે સમાનતા જાળવી રાખવાનો છે.
• મહિલાઓને શિક્ષણ અને આરોગ્યની સુવિધા છે.
• મહિલાઓ સામે હિંસાના કિસ્સાઓ પણ હાલમાં જોવા મળી શકે છે.  એક હેતુ લોકોને આ બાબતે જાગૃત કરવાનો પણ છે.
• રાજકીય પરિપ્રેક્ષ્યમાં મહિલાઓની સંખ્યા હજુ પણ પુરુષો કરતાં પાછળ છે અને મહિલાઓનું આર્થિક સ્તર પણ પછાત છે.  મહિલા દિવસની ઉજવણીનો એક હેતુ મહિલાઓને આ દિશામાં જાગૃત કરવાનો અને ભવિષ્યમાં પ્રગતિ માટે તૈયાર કરવાનો છે.
• રમતગમત માં મહિલાઓ માટે સમાનતા ની પ્રશંસા કરવી જોઈએ .
• મહિલાઓને સ્વાસ્થય પસંદગીના નિર્ણયો વિશે શિક્ષિત કરવું જોઈએ .
• વિશ્વ ભરમાં તેમનું સશક્તિ કરણનું નિર્માણ કરવું જોઈએ. 
• આજે પણ દુનિયાના ઘણા એવા ભાગો છે જ્યાં મહિલાઓને સમાનતાનો અધિકાર નથી. જ્યાં મહિલાઓને નોકરીમાં પ્રમોશનમાં અવરોધોનો સામનો કરવો પડે છે, ત્યાં મહિલાઓ હજુ પણ સ્વરોજગાર ક્ષેત્રે પછાત છે.

આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ 2022

વર્ષ 2022 માં તે 111મો મહિલા દિવસ હશે જો આપણે વર્ષ 1911 થી ગણતરી કરીએ જ્યારે તે ઘણા દેશોમાં એક સાથે ઉજવવામાં આવતો હતો,.  આ દિવસ 8 માર્ચ 2022ના રોજ સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં એકસાથે પોતાની રીતે ઉજવવામાં આવશે.

આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ થીમ

મહિલા દિવસ 1996 થી એક ચોક્કસ થીમ સાથે સતત ઉજવવામાં આવે છે, પ્રથમ 1996 માં તેની થીમ ભૂતકાળની ઉજવણી અને ભવિષ્ય માટેનું આયોજન છે.  આ પછી ઘણા દેશો એક નવી થીમ અને નવા હેતુ સાથે તેની ઉજવણી કરી રહ્યા છે.  છેલ્લા 10 વર્ષમાં મહિલા દિવસની થીમ છે

વર્ષ             થીમ

2009        : આ વર્ષના મહિલા દિવસની થીમ છે કે મહિલાઓ અને પુરૂષોએ મહિલાઓ અને છોકરીઓ પર થતા અત્યાચાર સામે એકસાથે પ્રયાસ કરવો જોઈએ, આ વર્ષે આ મુદ્દા પર વિચાર કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો કે

2010        : મહિલાઓ પુરુષોની સમાન હોવી જોઈએ.  અધિકારો અને સમાન તકો પ્રદાન કરીને, તેમની પ્રગતિ પર વધુ ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રિત કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું.

2012        :આ વર્ષે ગામડાની મહિલાઓને સમાન તકો આપીને સશક્ત કરવાનો પ્રયાસ કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો, સાથે સાથે ગરીબી અને ભૂખમરા જેવી સમસ્યાઓ પર પણ ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રિત કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું.

 2013        : આ વર્ષે મહિલાઓ સામે હિંસા  કાર્યવાહી પૂર્ણ કરવા માટેનો સમય નક્કી કરવાની માંગ કરવામાં આવી હતી

2014        : આ વર્ષે, મહિલાઓ માટે સમાનતા અને તેમની પ્રગતિ આ દિવસની થીમ હતી,

2015        : આ વર્ષે સમગ્ર માનવજાતની પ્રગતિ મહિલાઓની પ્રગતિ સાથે જોડાયેલી હતી.

2016        : આ વર્ષે આગામી 12 વર્ષમાં.  પુરુષો અને સ્ત્રીઓનું સમાન પ્રમાણ પર નિર્ણય લેવાયો હતો

2017         : આ વર્ષે બદલાતી દુનિયામાં મહિલાઓની સ્થિતિ સાથે આગામી વર્ષોમાં સેક્સ રેશિયોને સમાન બનાવવા પર ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રિત કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું.

2018         : આ વર્ષની થીમ મહિલાઓને તેમના વિકાસ માટે પ્રોત્સાહિત કરવાની હતી

2019        : THINK EQUAL BUILD SMART INNOVATE FOR CHANGE સમાન વિચારો, સ્માર્ટ બનાવો, પરિવર્તન માટે નવીન કરો

2020       : EACH FOR EQUAL સમાન મહિલા નેતૃત્વ માટે

2021        :  દરેક મહિલા નેતૃત્વ COVID-19 ની દુનિયામાં સમાન ભાવિ હાંસલ કરવી

2022      : “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow” 

આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસની ઉજવણી કેવી રીતે કરવી

દરેક દેશમાં આ દિવસ ઉજવવાની રીત અલગ-અલગ હોય, પરંતુ તેનો હેતુ દરેક જગ્યાએ એક જ છે, દરેક ક્ષેત્રમાં દરેક જગ્યાએ મહિલાઓ માટે સમાનતા છે. અફઘાનિસ્તાન, ચીન, કંબોડિયા, નેપાળ અને જ્યોર્જિયા જેવા ઘણા દેશોમાં આ દિવસે રજા જાહેર કરવામાં આવી છે, કેટલાક દેશોમાં આખા દિવસની રજા આપ્યા વિના અડધો દિવસ આપવામાં આવે છે.  જ્યારે કેટલાક દેશોમાં, બાળકો આ દિવસે તેમની માતાને ભેટ આપે છે અને આ દિવસ માતાને સમર્પિત છે,

જ્યારે ઘણા દેશોમાં, આ દિવસે પુરુષો તેમની પત્નીઓ, મિત્રો, માતા બહેનો વગેરેને ભેટ તરીકે ફૂલ આપે છે.  ભારતમાં, મહિલાઓને સન્માન આપીને પ્રોત્સાહિત કરવાના હેતુથી ઘણી સંસ્થાઓ દ્વારા આ દિવસે ઘણા કાર્યક્રમોનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવે છે.

આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ ભાષણ

સ્ત્રીઓ ક્યારેય લાચાર નથી હોતી બધી શક્તિ સ્ત્રીઓમાં રહેલી છે

જ્યાં મહિલાઓનું અપમાન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું તે સ્થાન નરક જેવું છે

જે સ્ત્રીને સમાજ સ્થાન નથી આપતો એ જ સ્ત્રી આ સમાજનો આધાર છે

સ્ત્રીઓ આદર છે, સ્વર્ગનું દ્વાર છે

ઘણા મહાન લોકોએ સ્ત્રીઓ માટે આ અમૂલ્ય શબ્દ કહ્યો છે, વિશ્વના મહાન લોકો પણ સ્ત્રી શક્તિમાં માનતા આવ્યા છે અને તેમનું સન્માન કરતા આવ્યા છે.  ઈતિહાસ સાક્ષી છે કે જેઓ દેશભક્ત રહ્યા છે, તેઓ તમામ મહિલાઓનું સન્માન કરતા આવ્યા છે, ત્યારે જ તેમને આ સન્માન મળ્યું છે અને જેમણે સ્ત્રીઓ પર ખરાબ નજર રાખી છે,

તેમણે ગમે તેટલું સારું કર્યું હોય, તેમને જે સન્માન મળવું હતું તે મળ્યું નથી. પ્રાપ્ત  જેઓ પોતે માનસિક બીમારીથી પીડિત છે તે જ આ સ્ત્રી શક્તિને સમજી શકતા નથી.

સ્ત્રી, આ કોઈ સામાન્ય શબ્દ નથી પણ દેવત્વને અપાયેલું સન્માન છે.  વૈદિક કાળથી સ્ત્રીઓનું સ્થાન દેવતાઓ સમાન છે, તેથી સ્ત્રીઓની સરખામણી દેવી-દેવતાઓ સાથે કરવામાં આવે છે.  જ્યારે પણ ઘરમાં દીકરીનો જન્મ થાય છે ત્યારે કહેવાય છે કે ઘરમાં લક્ષ્મીનું આગમન થયું છે. 

જ્યારે નવી પરણેલી પુત્રવધૂ ઘરમાં આવે છે ત્યારે પણ તેની સરખામણી લક્ષ્મીના આગમન સાથે કરવામાં આવે છે.  શું તમે ક્યારેય સાંભળ્યું છે કે પુત્રના જન્મ પછી આવી સરખામણી કરવામાં આવી હોય?  ઘરમાં કુબેર આવ્યો હોય કે વિષ્ણુનો જન્મ થયો હોય, ના.  આ સન્માન માત્ર સ્ત્રીઓને જ મળે છે, જે વેદ-પુરાણોથી ચાલી આવે છે, જે આજના સમાજે સ્ત્રીઓને એ સન્માન આપ્યું નથી, જે સ્ત્રીઓને જન્મ પછી જન્મથી જ મળે છે.

 હંમેશા મહિલાઓને કમજોર કહેવામાં આવે છે અને તેમને ઘરમાં રસોઈ બનાવીને ખાવાનું સંભાળવાનું કહેવામાં આવે છે, તેણીને જન્મ આપનારી નિઃસંતાન સ્ત્રી તરીકે જોવામાં આવે છે અને કહેવામાં આવે છે કે મહિલાઓને શિક્ષણની જરૂર નથી, જ્યારે મહિલાઓનું સ્થાન અલગ-અલગ છે. ભગવાન જેમને સમાજ પૂજે છે. 

માતા સરસ્વતી જે વિદ્યાની દેવી છે તે પણ એક સ્ત્રી છે અને આ સમાજ મહિલાઓને શિક્ષણને લાયક ગણતો નથી.  રાક્ષસોને મારવા જન્મ લેનાર મા દુર્ગા પણ સ્ત્રી છે અને આ સમાજ સ્ત્રીઓને કમજોર માને છે.  આ સમાજ સ્ત્રીઓ માટે અબલા, ગરીબ જેવા શબ્દો ક્યાંથી લાવે છે અને સ્ત્રીઓને શિક્ષણને લાયક નથી માનતો, જ્યારે કોઈ પુરાણ, કોઈ વેદમાં સ્ત્રીઓનું સ્થાન જે આ સમાજે સ્ત્રીઓ માટે નક્કી કર્યું છે. 

આવી સ્થિતિમાં, મહિલાઓએ તેમની શક્તિને સમજવાની અને એકબીજા સાથે એક થઈને ઊભા રહેવાની અને પોતાને સન્માન આપવાની જરૂર છે, જે ખરેખર મહિલાઓ માટે બનાવવામાં આવી છે.

આજના સમયમાં સ્ત્રીએ પોતાના અસ્તિત્વ અને ઓળખ માટે દરેક ક્ષણે લડવું પડે છે.  શરમજનક વાત છે કે આપણા દેશમાં દીકરી બચાવો, આજે ઘરે દીકરીને જન્મ આપો જેવી યોજનાઓ ચાલી રહી છે. આજે સરકાર દ્વારા ઘરે દીકરીને જન્મ આપવાનું દબાણ કરવામાં આવી રહ્યું છે, શું દીકરીઓ એવી જિંદગીનો વિચાર કરે છે કે જ્યાં તેમના માતા-પિતા માત્ર તેના કારણે જ પોતાનો જીવ આપી દે છે. 

સમાજના નિયમોના કારણે સમાજમાં બાળકીનું સ્થાન નબળું પડી ગયું છે, જેને હવે બદલવાની જરૂર છે.  આજ સુધી જે થઈ રહ્યું છે તેને બદલવાની જરૂર છે, જેના માટે પહેલા બાળકીને જીવનનો અધિકાર અને પછી શિક્ષણ મળવું જરૂરી છે, તો જ આ દેશમાં મહિલાઓની સ્થિતિ સુધરશે.

આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય મહિલા દિવસ 

• જો પુરુષ શિક્ષિત હોય તો માત્ર પુરુષ જ શિક્ષિત હોય છે પરંતુ જ્યારે સ્ત્રી શિક્ષિત હોય છે તો પેઢી શિક્ષિત થાય છે.  
• સ્ત્રીઓ જ સમાજની વાસ્તવિક શિલ્પી છે
• સ્ત્રીઓ પ્રેમ કરવા માટે હોય છે, સમજવા માટેની વસ્તુ નથી. – ઓસ્કાર વાઈલ્ડ
• જ્યારે કોઈ પુરુષ કોઈ સ્ત્રીને પ્રેમ કરે છે, ત્યારે તે તેને તેના જીવનનો એક ભાગ આપે છે, પરંતુ જ્યારે કોઈ સ્ત્રી પ્રેમ કરે છે, ત્યારે તે તેને બધું જ આપે છે – ઓસ્કર વાઈલ્ડ
• કોઈપણ સભ્યતા સ્ત્રીઓના વર્તન પરથી નક્કી કરી શકાય છે.  – રાલ્ફ વાલ્ડો ઇમર્સન
• પુરૂષો તેમના ભાગ્યને સંભાળી શકતા નથી, તેમના માટે આ કામ તેમના જીવન સાથે સંબંધિત મહિલા દ્વારા કરવામાં આવે છે.  – ગ્રુશો માર્ક્સ –

• કોઈપણ રાષ્ટ્ર જ્યાં સુધી તે રાષ્ટ્રમાં મહિલાઓને સમાન અધિકારો ન મળે ત્યાં સુધી પ્રગતિના શિખરે પહોંચી શકતી નથી.  – મોહમ્મદ અલી ઝીણા
• સ્ત્રીઓ અદ્ભુત છે, બધું બરાબર છે તે બતાવવા માટે તે તેના ચહેરા પર સ્મિતનો માસ્ક પહેરે છે પરંતુ વાસ્તવમાં તેના ખભા પર દુનિયાનો બોજ છે અને તેનું જીવન ફટાકડાની જેમ આંગળીઓ પરથી સરકી રહ્યું છે.

આ અમૂલ્ય શબ્દ મહિલાઓ માટે ઘણા મોટા ફાયદાઓ લાવ્યો છે.

આવનારા વર્ષમાં પણ દરેક દેશ આ દિવસની ઉજવણી કરશે, પરંતુ તેનો હેતુ ત્યારે જ પૂરો થશે જ્યારે મહિલાઓ સામેનું શોષણ ઓછું થશે, જ્યારે મહિલાઓ સામેના ગુનાહિત કેસ શૂન્ય થશે, જ્યારે મહિલાઓ અને પુરુષોને સમાન દરજ્જો મળશે.  હું ઈચ્છું છું કે આપણે જલ્દી જ તે દિવસ જોઈ શકીશું જ્યારે મહિલાઓને લિંગ સમાનતા સાથે દરેક ક્ષેત્રમાં સમાન દરજ્જો મળશે.

Around the world - from small grassroots gatherings and local celebrations, through to large scale events and press conferences - people everywhere are delivering exciting and engaging speeches and presentations that reinforce a commitment to women's equality and rally action and awareness raising.

Below are some useful points to cover in IWD addresses - whether addressing young children, employees in the workforce, members of the community, public audiences, or the press.

About International Women's Day 

Even though International Women's Day is a well-known moment in most countries, it is often helpful to still set some context. 

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

The day has occurred for well over a century, with the first​ ​IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Prior to this the​ Socialist Party of America, United Kingdom's Suffragists and Suffragettes, and further groups campaigned for women's equality. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere.

Setting some interesting historical context

The path to women's equality has been long and challenging, and here are some reasons why. Each stage provided an important focus in forging the gender agenda further along.

• Activism:  In the late 1800's and early 1900's, women activists fought hard for equality. The focus was largely on securing the right to vote and equal pay for equal work. These two issues - women's voice and participation in government; and the gender pay gap - largely remain key priorities well over a century later.  
• Feminism: Fast-forward to the 1970's and widespread feminist action saw women rallying, protesting and lobbying hard for inclusion, influence and equality. Feminists faced many challenges - systemic and societal - not only from opposing men, but also from other women.  
• Fix the women:  The 1980's saw an array of "Fix the Women" programs that were well-meaning in trying to help women become more confident, visible, well-networked and assertive - but many reinforced a notion that women needed to "act like men" and "fit" into existing patriarchal structures and organizations if they were to succeed (all while still being a superwoman in the home). Shoulder pads, power suits, high heels and a loud voice were in fashion.  
• Change the organization - The 1990's and noughties focused on organizational development: "Maybe if we change or fix the organizational structures, women will thrive?" So a focus on areas like 'women in the boardroom' escalated, as did more diverse recruiting, inclusive talent pipelines, and attention to wider diversity groups beyond gender such as race, LGBT+ and so forth. The introduction of "Top Company" and "Top Women" style lists occurred and as they increased in popularity, the number of new lists launched each year increased exponentially. The number of women's awards, conferences and networks also increased significantly - and continue to play an important and necessary role across all countries. The volume of gender-related research also increased - new insight, new terms and understandings, new phrases, measurement of the extent of problems or success; hard facts and numbers; incremental data.  
• Diversity & Inclusion: The 20-teens's saw an increasing focus on intersectional feminism and the important role that diversity and inclusion play in forging an equal world. "Men as allies" (i.e. men as advocates and champions of change), with this being recognized as a major element in accelerating women's equality. Many progressive CEOs and influential leaders have committed via formal public channels to helping build diverse and inclusive organizations that challenge stereotypes and bias. Furthermore, the global rise of social media provided a greater voice to groups often marginalized or sidelined from positions of power. Increasingly the global collective conversation for feminism continued to open up and grow. Understanding, challenging and calling out gender stereotypes, bias and discrimination became more prevalent. In 2013,  Lean In was founded to provide community, education and resources to support women's development, with an annual Women in the Workplace Study conducted with McKinsey & Company. The #MeToo movement (founded by activist Tarana Burke who coined the term “MeToo” in 2006) gained widespread attention in 2017 when actress Alyssa Milano urged victims of sexual harassment and assault to share their stories on social media. A global wave of activism and much needed change ensued. Much ground was made in the 20-teens, yet there was still a lot more to do.  
• The world expects diversity, equity and inclusivity: And so here we are in the 2020's. The significant global rise in International Women's Day activity in every corner of the world - along with the many female-focused campaigns and initiatives worldwide - means gender is firmly on the agenda. As expectations rise and information spreads faster and wider than ever before, organizations face unprecedented scrutiny from candidates, consumers, communities, investors, governments, and the media in terms of their support for and treatment of women. Many employers now publicly publish annual Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) reports and participate in various indices and accolades. 

Gender-related conversations and activity are certainly on the rise. Over the years, the term "International Women's Day" was one of the most discussed topic on Facebook by millions (even more than the Super Bowl). And back in 2018, Pantone's 'Color of the Year' was purple (i.e. women's color). Everywhere, gender is on the mainstream radar and impacting the narrative. Stereotypes, discrimination and bias are more likely to be called out. Men's role in society is more varied, and gender roles are more fluid. We are moving to a very exciting time in history where the world now "expects" diversity, equity and inclusion. The world notices its absence and celebrates its presence.

Step back over the years. International Women's Day has seen groups rally around many different focuses. For example, International Women's Day 2016 saw people worldwide being asked to support women's equality and develop an inclusive mindset via a #PledgeforParity. Then for International Women's Day 2017, the world was asked to #BeBoldforChange and identify tangible action to help accelerate gender parity. International Women's Day 2018 saw a massive #PressforProgress as the world stepped forward to push the boundaries and go beyond in achieving greater equality for women. International Women's Day 2019 saw& groups continue to play a critical role in helping forge a more gender-balanced world as we worked towards a #BalanceforBetter. International Women's Day 2020, amidst the pandemic, saw an important wave of collective individualism as we all strived to be #EachforEqual - because we know that an equal world is an enabled world. Then in 2021, we saw widespread global adoption of the #ChooseToChallenge campaign theme as groups committed to actively watching for and calling out inequity. In 2022, we stepped up and increased awareness of the significant impact that bias has on women's equality - both conscious and unconscious bias. We need to recognize it, and call it out, and so we called to everyone to #BreakTheBias. In 2023, the world truly made a massive effort to understand the difference between equity and equality , and why treating everyone the same can be discriminatory, and why in fact equal opportunities aren't enough. As such, the world saw a considerable narrative about why and how to #EmbraceEquity.

And so now for 2024, here we are living in a world that's incredibly turbulent, complex and exciting. The IWD 2024 campaign theme focuses on a global request to #InspireInclusion because when we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment. So the aim of the IWD 2024  #InspireInclusion   campaign is to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women.

Furthermore, we have to accept that both women and men contribute equally to the betterment of the home and society. Women are the one who brings life. And every woman is extraordinary, no matter where she works whether it’s a home or office.

Our responsibility is to honor and appreciate the women who are making success in their lives and bringing success into the life of other women and those around her.

As I stand before you all on an occasion so special and worthy of celebrations, I feel immense happiness that we, as a whole, are making progress and women are getting the kind of respect they deserve.

More than a decade from today, International women’s day wasn’t celebrated this much and on such big scales. But slowly and steadily, people are understanding the importance of observing and celebrating Women’s Day. Socialist Party of America organised the first Women’s Day on February 28, 1909, in New York City. With more points in the coming year, it changed to 8th of March.

#InspireInclusion is the theme for women’s day 2024, and it fits just like the missing part of a map to the treasure. This campaign aims to foster a world enriched by diversity and equality. By inspiring both awareness and a sense of belonging, we empower women, creating a unified, empowering environment for all. Today, women of all ages dare to challenge the odds and orthodox mindset of society. Women choose to challenge and that’s why we have female bus drivers in government jobs and in the supreme power of the many multinational corporations.

For a woman who comes from a rural background and handling management positions in business, there were definitely quite some pools of challenges that she has conquered with grace and dignity to make a name for herself and to lead a team.

It would be an injustice to mention that parents today are bolder and understating and they let their girls do what they want without any restrictions. It is surely a women’s day special speech but not mentioning the input of men feels not good to me.

Those brothers who understand that their sisters are free to do whatever they want and always stand in support of their decisions, deserve applause. The mindset of husbands has also changed and the unprogressive thinking that women should make home rather than earning to make the home is being demolished at a decent rate.

I may sound like I’m overdoing it but we all know that a woman blesses two families with her selfless love and knows how to keep the relationships intact.

Most of the international women’s day speeches  focus on how working women are facing challenges and conquering them with their power and confidence. But, women who are homemakers deserve the same amount of appreciation. Working throughout their life without a stop and without any day off so that their families can live a life of comfort and ease; is a task that requires divine strength to bear, sacrifice, and give.

To end with some lovely words; all I can say is –

“Women are warriors fighting without swords and conquering through love.”
