We are pleased to announce an open vacancy now exists in our Finance Department for a qualified and experienced Assistant Accountant.

Based in Port Moresby, this position will report to the Accountant functionally and operationally. The Assistant Accountant will ensure that Finance operations are organized, efficient and produce accurate financial accounts.

The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

  • Month end GL journal entries
  • Check accuracy of journal entries and post
  • Review and analyze expense accounts for coding errors and items causing major movements and make necessary adjustments monthly
  • Ensure timely completion of all assigned journals for financial reporting purposes
  • Ensure minimal coding errors in the preparation of journals
  • Ensure all assigned balance sheet accounts reconciliations are updated monthly and any discrepancies resolved subsequently
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts monthly
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements

To be considered, you must have the relevant qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required. May also accept degrees in business administration or economics with a focus on accounting.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred and will accept if some units of the CPA is completed.
  • Must have at least 6months to 1 year of experience
