Environmental changes are caused by the natural or artificial content of harmful pollutants and can cause instability, disturbance, or adverse effects on the ecosystem. Earth and its environment pose a more serious threat due to the increasing pollution of air, water, and soil. Environmental damage is caused by improper resource management or careless human activities. Therefore, any activity that violates the original nature of the environment and leads to degradation is called pollution. We need to understand the origin of these pollutants and find ways to control pollution. This can also be done by raising awareness of the effects of pollutants.

Air pollution is any physical, chemical, or biological change in the air. A certain percentage of the gas is present in the atmosphere. Increasing or decreasing the composition of these gasses is detrimental to survival. This imbalance in gas composition causes an increase in global temperature which is called global warming.

Introduction to air pollution 

The Earth and its environment are facing a serious threat by the increasing pollution of the air, water, and soil—the vital life support systems of the Earth. The damage to the environment is caused by improper management of resources or by careless human activity. Hence any activity that violates the original character of nature and leads to its degradation is called pollution. We need to understand the sources of these pollutants and find ways to control pollution. This can be also done by making people aware of the effects of pollutants. 

Air with 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, and 1% of all other gasses support life on Earth. Various processes take place to sustain the regular percentage of gasses and their composition in general. 

Atmospheric pollution can have natural sources, for example, volcanic eruptions. The gaseous by-products of man-made processes such as energy production, waste incineration, transport, deforestation and agriculture, are the major air pollutants.

Although air is made up of mostly Oxygen and Nitrogen, mankind, through pollution, has increased the levels of many trace gasses, and in some cases, released completely new gasses to the atmosphere. 

Air pollution can result in poor air quality, both in cities and in the countryside. Some air pollutants make people sick, causing breathing problems and increasing the likelihood of cancer. 

Some air pollutants are harmful to plants, animals, and the ecosystems in which they live. Statues, monuments, and buildings are being corroded by the air pollutants in the form of acid rain. It also damages crops and forests, and makes lakes and streams unsuitable for fish and other plant and animal life.

Air pollution occurs when large amounts of gas and tiny particles are released into the air and the ecological balance is disturbed. Each year millions of tons of gasses and particulate matter are emitted into the air. 

Primary air pollutants are pollutants, which are directly released into the air. They are called SPM, i.e., Suspended Particulate Matter. For example, smoke, dust, ash, sulfur oxide, nitrogen oxide, and radioactive compounds, etc.

Secondary Pollutants are pollutants, which are formed due to chemical interactions between the atmospheric components and primary pollutants. For example, Smog (i.e. Smoke and fog), ozone, etc.

Major gaseous air pollutants include Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, Sulfur Dioxide and Nitrogen Oxide, etc.

Natural sources are volcanic eruptions, forest fires, dust storms, etc. 

Man-made sources include gasses released from the automobiles, industries, burning of garbage and bricks kilns, etc.

Preventive Measures to Reduce Air Pollution

We can prevent pollution by utilizing raw materials, water energy, and other resources more efficiently. When less harmful substances are substituted for hazardous ones, and when toxic substances are eliminated from the production process, human health can be protected and economic wellbeing can be strengthened. 

There are several measures that can be adopted by people to reduce pollution and to save the environment.

जब शुद्ध ताजी हवा धूल, धुआं, विषैली गैसों, मोटर वाहनों, मिलों और कारखानों आदि के कारण प्रदूषित होती है, तो उसे वायु प्रदूषण कहते हैं। जैसा कि हम सभी जानते हैं कि, ताजी हवा स्वस्थ्य जीवन का बहुत महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य है, हमें यह सोचने की जरुरत है, तब क्या होगा जब पूरे वातावरण की वायु गंदी हो जायेगी। सबसे पहले वायु प्रदूषण पूरी मानव जाति के लिये बड़े खेद की बात है। वायु प्रदूषण के कुछ प्रमुख बड़े कारकों में भोले किसानों को द्वारा अपनी फसल की ऊपज को बढ़ाने के लिये विषैले उर्वरकों, कीटनाशकों आदि का प्रयोग है। इन उर्वरकों से रासायनिक और खतरनाक गैसें (अमोनिया) निकलती हैं, और वायु में मिलकर वायु प्रदूषण का कारण बनती है।

जीवाश्म ईधन का जलना जैसे; कोयला, पैट्रोलियम जिसमें अन्य कारखानों के जलावन भी शामिल है, आदि वायु प्रदूषण के मुख्य कारक हैं। मोटर वाहनों और स्वचलित वाहनों से निकलने वाला विभिन्न प्रकार का धुआं जैसे कारों, बसों, बाइक, ट्रक, जीप, ट्रेन, हवाई जहाज आदि भी वायु प्रदूषण का कारण हैं। उद्योगों की बढ़ती संख्या के कारण विषैले औद्योगिक धुएं और हानिकारक गैसें (जैसे कार्बन मोनो ऑक्साइड, कार्बनिक यौगिकों, हाइड्रोकार्बन, रसायन, आदि) कारखानों तथा मिलों में से पर्यावरण में छोड़ी जाती हैं। कुछ घरेलू गतिवधियाँ जैसे सफाई करने के लिये अज्ञानतावश सफाई उत्पादकों का प्रयोग करना, कपड़े धोने का पाउडर, पेंट आदि भी बहुत से विषैले रसायनों को वायु में छोड़ता है।

लगातार बढ़ते प्रदूषण के स्तर ने इसके सजीवों के स्वास्थ्य पर नकारात्मक और हानिकारक प्रभावों को भी बढ़ाया है। वायु प्रदूषण ग्लोबल वार्मिंग के बढ़ने का भी कारण है क्योंकि वातावरण का तापमान ग्रीन हाउस गैसों के स्तर के बढ़ने के कारण ही बढ़ रहा है। ये ग्रीन हाउस गैसें ग्रीन हाउस प्रभाव और बढ़ता हुआ समुद्र का स्तर, ग्लेशियर का पिघलना, मौसम का बदलना, जलवायु का बदलना आदि को फिर से बढ़ाती हैं। बढ़ता हुआ वायु प्रदूषण कई घातक रोगों (कैंसर, हार्टअटैक, अस्थमा, ब्रोंकाइटिस, गुर्दें की बीमारियाँ आदि) और मृत्यु का कारण बन रहा है। बहुत से महत्वपूर्ण पशुओं और पेड़-पौधों की प्रजातियाँ इस ग्रह से पूरी तरह नष्ट हो चुकी हैं। पर्यावरण में हानिकारक गैसों का बढ़ना अम्लीय वर्षा और ओजोन परत के क्षरण का कारण बन रहा है।

पूरी दुनिया के लोगों के सामूहिक प्रयासों के द्वारा वायु प्रदूषण को नियंत्रित करने में मदद मिल सकती है। औद्योगिक क्षेत्रों की स्थापना रिहायशी इलाकों से दूर होनी चाहिए, लम्बी चिमनी का प्रयोग करने के लिये प्रोत्साहित करना चाहिये (फिल्टर और इलेक्ट्रोस्टैटिक प्रेसिपिटेटर्स के साथ), छोटे तापमान सूचकों के स्थान पर उच्च तापमान संकेतकों को प्रोत्साहन, ऊर्जा के अज्वलनशील स्रोतों का उपयोग करना, पैट्रोल में गैर-नेतृत्वकारी एन्टीनॉक ऐजेंट के प्रयोग को बढ़ावा देना, वृक्षारोपण को बढ़ावा देना और भी बहुत से सकारात्मक प्रयासों को करना।

The whole world has been suffering from lots of problems since its existence, and the problems are getting bigger and bigger day by days.

One of the biggest problems that the entire planet faces is the amount of pollution on the planet. Pollution is of several kinds, but the pollution that affects the most to our nature and environment is Air pollution .

Air pollution is the pollution in which the pollutants get released in the air, and those pollutants then pollute the air which affects the health of a human being.

Air pollution is the pollution when the dirt, dirt particles and other kinds of pollutants get mixed to air and make the air polluted.

Today, every city in the world is suffering from air pollution , and that is why a lot of people and organizations in the world are trying their best to save the world from air pollution.

Air Pollution in India

Indian cities are much polluted and that can get seen from various visuals. Land and air pollution are connected directly as if the land is dirty, after a few days, that dirty land will lead to air pollution. In India, there are only a few surfaces where the pollution level is less. For example, the pollution level in Chandigarh city is lesser than a lot of cities in India. However, the pollution level in various cities of NCR, UP and Bihar is way higher than a lot of cities in India. The air pollution in India is getting increased day by day. But, the good news is that the people who had no interest in cleaning their country before, are now getting involved in schemes like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, etc.

There are lots of causes of air pollution in the world and here are a few of those causes:

• The burning of fossil fuels is the biggest cause of air pollution, and that is why it has been prohibited at a lot of places in the world.
• Cars, buses, motorbikes are another big cause of air pollution because they emit a lot of pollution also.
• Volcano eruptions are another big cause of air pollution.
• When we cook at home, sometimes we need wood and charcoal for it, and these materials cause a huge amount of air pollution.
• People smoking cigarettes is another big cause of air pollution.
• If due to some reason a forest catches fire , then it becomes one of the biggest reasons for air pollution.

These are a few effects on human beings, plants, and animals due to air pollution:

• The rainwater flows through the surface and ends in the river, and when the surface gets polluted, all the rainwater will take the polluted surface particles with itself which will not only pollute the river, but it will also pollute the land through which the water flows .
• A lot of people suffer from allergies which are a side effect of living in an air-polluted
• Air pollution can also lead to severe diseases like cancer, heart diseases, and other respiratory problems, etc.
• One should restrict the use of charcoal , wood, thus the pollution caused by these resources would not be there in the world.
• A restriction should be there on industries to use the kind of materials which causes zero to no air pollution at all.
• The cities which have the maximum air pollution should get asked as to how they will reduce the air pollution and what are their plans for it.

Air pollution is a huge problem not only in India but the whole world, various organizations do their bit to make sure that plans are made to restrict air pollution , but unfortunately those plans never get executed rightly. That is why even after knowing that the air is getting polluted every day, the organizations around the world are unable to provide a good solution to it. As a human being, we must contribute, that is why, we need to gather and make sure that all the places, suffering from air pollution, should get organized in a manner so that air pollution should not exist. वायु से हमारा तात्पर्य हवा या पवन से है। वायु से ही हमें ऑक्सीजन प्राप्त होती है, जो पृथ्वी पर जीवन यापन के लिए सबसे ज़रूरी है। फिर चाहे वह कोई मनुष्य हो, पेड़-पौधे हों या जीव-जन्तु हों। सभी को जीवित रहने के लिए शुद्ध और स्वस्च्छ वायु की ज़रूरत है। लेकिन क्या आज हम साफ हवा में सांस ले पा रहे हैं? हमें क्यों पेड़-पौधों से मिलने वाली प्राकृतिक ऑक्सीजन के बावजूद भी सिलेंडर वाले ऑक्सीजन की ज़रूरत पड़ती है। ये समय क्यों आ गया है कि हमें बाहर निकलते वक्त अपने मुँह को किसी कपड़े या मास्क के ढककर निकलना पड़ रहा है। इसका कारण सिर्फ एक है और वो है तेजी से अपने पैर पसारता हुआ “प्रदूषण”। प्रदूषण ने ना सिर्फ प्रकृति को नुकसान पहुँचाया है बल्कि महामारियों को भी जन्म दिया है।

वायु प्रदूषण क्या है?

सबसे पहले हम ये जानने की कोशिश करते हैं कि वायु प्रदूषण है क्या? दरअसल वायु प्रदूषण हमारे पर्यावरण और पूरी वायुमंडलीय हवा में बाहरी तत्वों से मिलकर बनता है। यह तत्व छोटे-बड़े उद्योगों और अनगिनत मोटर वाहनों से पैदा होते हैं। यह खतरनाक, हानिकारक और जहरीली गैसें ही हमारे मौसम, पेड़-पौधों, जानवरों, पक्षियों और मनुष्यों के ऊपर अपना दुष्प्रभाव डालती हैं। मानवीय संसाधन वायु प्रदूषण के मुख्य कारकों में से एक हैं। सबसे ज्यादा वायु प्रदूषण होने का कारण इंसानों द्वारा की जाने वाली गतिविधियाँ हैं। ये गतिविधियाँ तेल का जलना, गंदा कचरा जलाना, प्लास्टिक जलाना, हानिकारक गैसों को छोड़ना, कारखानों, मोटर वाहनों से निकलने वाला धुआँ आदि में सम्मिलित होती हैं।

वायु प्रदूषण के कारण

वायु प्रदूषण होने के मुख्य दो कारण सामने आते हैं, पहला प्राकृतिक कारण और दूसरा मानव निर्मित कारण। इन दोनों कारणों की वजह से ही वायु प्रदूषण पैदा होता है। लेकिन अगर तुलना की जाए, तो सबसे ज्यादा वायु प्रदूषण मानव निर्मित कारण की वजह से ही बढ़ा है। वायु प्रदूषण के अन्य कारण निम्नलिखित हैं-

• ज्वालामुखी से निकलने वाली जहरीली गैस और लावा
• प्राकृतिक रूप में जंगलों में लगने वाली आग
• वातावरण में हर समय उड़ती हुई धूल और मिट्टी
• तेज हवा, आंधी और तूफान
• बड़े उद्योगों और कारखानों से निकलने वाली दूषित गैस
• वनों की कटाई
• जनसंख्या वृद्धि
• परमाणु परीक्षण से निकलने वाले जहरीले तत्व
• गंदे कचरे से उड़ने वाली भयंकर बदबू
• किसानों द्वारा पराली जलाना

वायु प्रदूषण के ये वो सभी कारण हैं जिनसे हम सभी अवगत हैं और जिनकी हम पहचान कर सकते हैं। इन कारणों को पहचाने के बावजूद हमें इन्हें नज़रअंदाज़ कर देते हैं और इन्हें भूलकर चुप बैठ जाते हैं। लेकिन अब ज़रूरत है कि वायु प्रदूषण के कारणों की समय पर पहचान करते हुए इसका तुंरत हल निकाला जाए और प्रदूषण की समस्या को खत्म किया जाए।

वायु प्रदूषण के प्रकार

वायु प्रदूषण प्रदूषण के प्रकारों में से ही एक है, लेकिन वायु प्रदूषण के अपने भी कुछ प्रकार हैं, जैसे-

• विविक्त प्रदूषण- हवा में कई तरह के प्रदूषक ठोस रूप में उड़ते हुए पाये जाते हैं। इस तरह के प्रदूषकों में धूल, राख आदि शामिल होते हैं। इसके कण बड़े और चौड़े आकार के होते हैं, जो पृथ्वी की सतह पर फैलकर प्रदूषण फैलाते हैं। इस तरह के प्रदूषण को विविक्त प्रदूषण कहा जाता है।
• गैसीय प्रदूषण- जो क्रियाएं मानव करता है उससे कई तरह की गैसों का निर्माण होता है और इस निर्माण में कई तरह के प्राकृतिक तत्व भी मौजूद होते हैं। हवा में ऑक्साइड और नाइट्रोजन के जलने पर जो धुआं मिल जाता है, उसे ही गैसीय प्रदूषक कहा जाता है।
• रासायनिक प्रदूषण- वर्तमान में चलने वाले आधुनिक उद्योगों में कई प्रकार के रासायनिक पदार्थों का इस्तेमाल होता है। इन उद्योगों से जो गैस और धुआं निकलता है, वो वायुमण्डल में विषैली रासायनिक गैसें होती हैं जो हवा को दूषित करती हैं।  
• धुआँ और धुंध प्रदूषण- हमारे वायुमण्डल में धुआँ (स्मोक) और कोहरा (फॉग) यानी कि हवा में पायी जाने वाली जलवाष्प और जल की बूँदों के छोटे-छोटे कणों से धुंध (स्मॉग) का निर्माण होता है। इसी धुंध से वायुमण्डल में घुटन पैदा होती है और दृश्यता भी काफी कम हो जाती है।

वायु प्रदूषण के प्रभाव

वायु प्रदूषण के लगातार बढ़ने से और इसके अनियंत्रित होने की वजह से इसके कई दुष्प्रभाव सामने आ रहे हैं। ये दुष्प्रभाव आने वाले समय और धरती पर जीवन यापन के लिए गंभीर खतरा पैदा कर रहे हैं। वायु प्रदूषण के होने वाले गंभीर दुष्प्रभावों में निम्नलिखित हैं, जैसे-

बीमारियों का बढ़ना 

हम सभी को इस पृथ्वी पर रहने के लिए स्वच्छता की सबसे ज़्यादा ज़रूरत होती है। साफ-सफाई के बिना हम एक पल भी जीवित नहीं रह सकते हैं। अगर हमारी हवा ही प्रदूषित होगी, तो इसके कारण अस्थमा, दमा, कैंसर, सिर दर्द, पेट की बीमारियां, एलर्जी, दिल की बीमारियों के होने का खतरा बढ़ जाएगा। ये बीमारियाँ हमारे स्वास्थ्य के लिए बहुत ज्यादा हानिकारक और जानलेवा साबित हो सकती हैं।

ऑक्सीजन कम होना 

वायु प्रदूषण के कारण पृथ्वी पर ऑक्सीजन भी कम होती जा रही है। पहले हमारे वातावरण में ऑक्सीजन की मात्रा 24 प्रतिशित थी लेकिन धीरे-धीरे अब इसकी मात्रा भी कम हो रही है। एक रिसर्च के मुताबिक अब हमारे पर्यावरण में ऑक्सीजन की मात्रा घटकर केवल 22 प्रतिशत ही बची है।

पशु-पक्षियों की समय से पहले मृत्यु 

स्वच्छ हवा और ऑक्सीजन न मिलने की वजह से रोज़ न जाने कितने ही जीव-जंतुओं की मौत हो रही है। वायु प्रदूषण के कारण पशु-पक्षियों की कुछ प्रजातियां तो बिल्कुल ही विलुप्त होती जा रही हैं। इस तरह से ही अगर वायु प्रदूषण बढ़ता रहा, तो एक दिन ऐसा आएगा जब धरती पर कोई भी जीव-जंतु जीवित नहीं बचेगा।

वातावरण प्रभावित होना 

हवा में प्रदूषण की मात्रा ज़्यादा होने की वजह से पृथ्वी का पूरा वातावरण बुरी तरह से प्रभावित हो रहा है। इस वजह से पृथ्वी का संतुलन भी बिगड़ रहा है। रोज़ कोई ना कोई आपदा या महामारी आती रहती है। इन सबका कारण प्रदूषण ही है। अगर हमें हमारे वातावरण को बचाना है, तो वायु प्रदूषण को कम करना होगा।

अम्लीय वर्षा होना 

वायु प्रदूषण होने की वजह से साफ हवा में बहुत सी प्रकार की हानिकारक गैसें मिल जाती हैं। इन गैसों में सल्फर डाइऑक्साइड सबसे खतरनाक होती है। जब ये हवा में घुल जाती है और जब बारिश होती है, तो जल के साथ क्रिया करके सल्फ्यूरिक अम्ल बनाती है, जिसे अम्लीय3 वर्षा बोलते हैं। इसे आम भाषा में हम तेजाब वर्षा या ऐसिड रेन भी कहते हैं जिसके कारण कई बीमारियां फैलती हैं। यह पानी में घुलने की वजह से सीधे हमारे शरीर में चली जाती हैं और कई अलग-अलग प्रकार की गंभीर बीमारियां बनाती हैं।

तापमान का बढ़ना 

वायु प्रदूषण बढ़ने के साथ-साथ धरती का तापमान भी लगातार बढ़ता जा रहा है। एक रिसर्च के अनुसार अगर इसी तेजी से वायु प्रदूषण बढ़ता रहा, तो पृथ्वी का तापमान भी तेजी से बढ़ता जाएगा। यदि पृथ्वी का तापमान दो से तीन प्रतिशत भी बढ़ता है, तो पृथ्वी के हिम ग्लेशियर पिघल सकते हैं और भयंकर बाढ़ आ सकती है। अगर ऐसा हुआ, तो पृथ्वी पूरी तरह से नष्ट भी हो सकती है।

वायु प्रदूषण के निवारण

वायु प्रदूषण को कम करने के लिए और इसे नियंत्रित करने के लिए हमें छोटे-छोटे उपायों से ही शुरुआत करनी होगी। सबकी भागीदारी ही वायु प्रदूषण को खत्म करने में मदद करेगी। वायु प्रदूषण से बचाव के उपाय इस प्रकार हैं-

ज्यादा से ज्यादा पेड़-पौधे लगाना– अगर हम वायु प्रदूषण पर नियंत्रण पाना चाहते हैं, तो हमें ज़्यादा से ज़्यादा मात्रा में पेड़-पौधे लगाने होंगे। क्योंकि पेड़-पौधों से ही ऑक्सीजन निकलती है और यह कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड ग्रहण करते हैं जिस वजह से ज्यादातर प्रदूषित हवा साफ हो जाती है। लेकिन आज के समय में पेड़-पौधों को ही सबसे ज़्यादा काटा और नष्ट किया जा रहा है, जिसके कारण वायु प्रदूषण की समस्या लगातार बढ़ती जा रही है।

जनसंख्या नियंत्रण को बढ़ावा देना– जनसंख्या वृद्धि की समस्या सबसे गंभीर समस्या है और इस समस्या से पूरी दुनिया जूझ रही है। यदि हम जनसंख्या वृद्धि पर नियंत्रण पा लेते हैं, तो पर्यावरण में कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड की मात्रा भी कम होगी और हमें कम उद्योग धंधे लगाने की आवश्यकता होगी, जिससे प्रदूषण अपने आप ही कम हो जाएगा। जनसंख्या वृद्धि भी वायु प्रदूषण का मुख्य कारण है।

उद्योग और कारखाने कम करना – वायु प्रदूषण को कम करने के लिए हमें उन उद्योगों और कारखानों को भी बंद करना होगा, जो अधिक मात्रा में प्रदूषण करते हैं। जिन कारखानों की हमें ज़रूरत है, उनकी चिमनीयों की ऊंचाई भी ज़्यादा होनी चाहिए। ऐसा करने से हमारा वायुमंडल भी कम से कम प्रभावित होगा।

ऊर्जा के नए स्रोत तलाशें– कारखानों, फैक्ट्रियों, मशीनों आदि को चलाने के लिए हमें ऊर्जा के लिए नए स्रोत तलाशने होंगे। हमें कोयले और परमाणु ऊर्जा का प्रयोग कम करना होगा। हमें सौर ऊर्जा का उपयोग ज़्यादा से ज़्यादा करना होगा। ऐसा करने से वायु प्रदूषण भी नहीं होगा और हमें ऊर्जा भी पूरी तरह से प्राप्त हो जाएगी।

सार्वजनिक वाहनों का उपयोग– वायु प्रदूषण को कम करने के लिए हमें निजी वाहनों का इस्तेमाल बंद करके ज़्यादा से ज़्यादा सार्वजनिक वाहनों का इस्तेमाल करना होगा। इस पहल से भी वायु प्रदूषण में कमी आएगी।

कानूनी नियंत्रण जरूरी– वायु प्रदूषण को नियंत्रित करने के लिए हमारी देश की सरकार को नए नियम और कानून बनाने चाहिए। इसके अलावा प्रदूषण नियंत्रण से जुड़े प्रमाण पत्र की भी अनिवार्यता करनी होगी और लोगों को वायु प्रदूषण कानून का भी सख्ती से पालना करना सीखना होगा।

जन जागरण की आवश्यकता– प्रदूषण पर नियंत्रण पाने के लिए हमें लोगों को प्रदूषण के बारे में सचेत और जागरूक करना होगा। प्रदूषण के बारे में सभी विद्यालयों में पाठ्यक्रम शामिल होना चाहिए जिससे बचपन से ही बच्चों को पता हो प्रदूषण कैसे फैलता है और इसे फैलने से कैसे रोकें। इसके अलावा हमें गांव-गांव में जाकर नुक्कड़-नाटकों के माध्यम से वहाँ के लोगों को समझाना चाहिए कि प्रदूषण हमारे स्वास्थ्य के लिए कितना हानिकारक है। इन सभी प्रयासों के बाद ही हम वायु प्रदूषण पर नियंत्रण पाने में सफल हो सकते हैं।

वायु प्रदूषण की समस्या एक ऐसी गंभीर समस्या है जिसके बारे में हम लोगों को जितना जागरूक करेंगे उतनी ही जल्दी हम इस समस्या का इलाज कर पाएंगे। लोगों को जागरूक करेंगे का काम हमें जमीनी स्तर पर रहकर, उनके बीच जाकर और उन्हें इस समस्या के दुष्प्रभावों के बारे में बताकर करना होगा। लेकिन उससे भी पहले हमें खुद जागरूक होना होगा, खुद को बदलना होगा और सबसे पहले इसकी शुरुआत हमें अपने आप से ही करनी होगी, तब कहीं जाकर हम वायु प्रदूषण मुक्त भारत की कल्पना कर सकते हैं।

इससे कई प्राकृतिक प्रक्रियाओं में गड़बड़ी आती है। इतना ही नहीं, आज कई वनस्पतियां और जीव-जंतु या तो विलुप्त हो चुके हैं या विलुप्त होने की कगार पर हैं। प्रदूषण की मात्रा में तेजी से वृद्धि के कारण पशु तेजी से न सिर्फ अपना घर खो रहे हैं, बल्कि जीवित रहने लायक प्रकृति को भी खो रहे हैं। प्रदूषण ने दुनिया भर के कई प्रमुख शहरों को प्रभावित किया है। इन प्रदूषित शहरों में से अधिकांश भारत में ही स्थित हैं। दुनिया के कुछ सबसे प्रदूषित शहरों में दिल्ली, कानपुर, बामेंडा, मॉस्को, हेज़, चेरनोबिल, बीजिंग आदि शामिल हैं। हालांकि इन शहरों ने प्रदूषण पर अंकुश लगाने के लिए कई कदम उठाए हैं, मगर फिर भी उन्हें अभी एक लंबा रास्ता तय करना है। इन स्थानों की वायु गुणवत्ता खराब है और भूमि तथा जल प्रदूषण में भी बढ़ोतरी देखी जा रही है। अब समय आ गया है कि इन शहरों से प्रदूषण के स्तर को कम करने के लिए, यहाँ मौजूद प्रशासन एक ठोस रणनीति तैयार करके उसपर अमल करे।

वायु प्रदूषण : वायु प्रदूषण मुख्य रूप से वाहनों से गैस के उत्सर्जन के कारण होता है। बेहद ही हानिकारक गैस कारखानों तथा उद्योगों में उप-उत्पाद के रूप में उत्पादित होती हैं, प्लास्टिक और पत्तियों जैसे जहरीले पदार्थों को खुले में जलाने से, वाहनों के एग्जॉस्ट से, रेफ्रीजरशन उद्योग में उपयोग किए जाने वाले सीएफ़सी से वायु प्रदूषण में बढ़ोतरी होती है।

हाल के दशक में बेहतर आय की वजह से भारत में सड़कों पर वाहनों की संख्या में बेतहाशा बढ़ोतरी देखी गई है। ये सल्फर डाइऑक्साइड तथा कार्बन मोनोऑक्साइड जैसी हानिकारक गैसों को फैलाने के लिए भी जिम्मेदार हैं। ये गैसें पृथ्वी के वायुमंडल में ऑक्सीजन की मात्रा को कम करने के लिए जिम्मेदार हैं। इनकी वजह से सांस लेने की कई समस्याएं, श्वसन रोग, कई प्रकार के कैंसर आदि जैसी बीमारियाँ तेजी से पनप रही हैं।

जल प्रदूषण : जल प्रदूषण आजकल मनुष्यों के सामने मौजूद सबसे बड़ी समस्याओं में से एक है। सीवेज अपशिष्ट, उद्योगों या कारखानों आदि के कचरे को सीधे नहरों, नदियों और समुद्रों जैसे जल निकायों में डाला जा रहा है। इसके परिणामस्वरूप समुद्री जीव जंतुओं के आवास का नुकसान हो रहा है और जल निकायों में घुली ऑक्सीजन का स्तर भी घट रहा है। पीने योग्य पानी की कमी जल प्रदूषण का एक बड़ा दुष्प्रभाव है। लोग प्रदूषित पानी पीने को मजबूर हैं जिससे हैजा, डायरिया, पेचिश आदि रोग होने का खतरा रहता है।

मृदा प्रदूषण : भारतीय आबादी का एक बहुत बड़ा हिस्सा कृषि पर निर्भर है। इस काम के लिए, किसान बहुत सारे शाकनाशी, उर्वरक, कवकनाशी और अन्य समान प्रकार के रासायनिक यौगिकों का उपयोग करते हैं। इनके इस्तेमाल से मिट्टी दूषित होती है और इससे मिट्टी आगे फसल उगाने लायक नहीं रह जाती। इसके अलावा, अगर अधिकारी जमीन पर पड़े औद्योगिक या घरेलू कचरे को डंप नहीं करते हैं, तो यह भी मिट्टी के प्रदूषण में बड़ा योगदान देता है। इसकी वजह से मच्छरों के प्रजनन में वृद्धि होती है, जो डेंगू जैसी कई जानलेवा बीमारियों का कारण बनता है। ये सभी कारक मिट्टी को विषाक्त बनाने के लिए जिम्मेदार हैं।

ग्लोबल वार्मिंग (Global Warming) जलवायु परिवर्तन का प्रमुख कारक है। धरती के चारों ओर गर्मी को फंसाने वाले प्रदूषण की परत ही मुख्य कारण है, जो आजकल ग्लोबल वार्मिंग (Global Warming) को बढ़ा रही है। जैसे मनुष्य जब जीवाश्म ईंधन जलाते हैं, प्लास्टिक जलाते हैं, वाहन से हानिकारक गैसों का उत्सर्जन होता है, जंगल अधिक स्तर पर जलाए जाते हैं, तो इनसे खतरनाक गैस का उत्सर्जन होता है।

ऊर्जा के वैकल्पिक स्रोत : पिछले कुछ वर्षों से, भारत सरकार लोगों को ऊर्जा के वैकल्पिक स्रोतों की ओर जाने के लिए प्रोत्साहित कर रही है। तमिलनाडु राज्य के निवासियों के लिए अपनी छतों पर सौर पैनल और वर्षा जल संचयन प्रणाली रखना अनिवार्य है। वैकल्पिक ऊर्जा के अन्य स्रोत जैव ईंधन, पवन ऊर्जा, जलविद्युत ऊर्जा आदि हैं।

BS-VI ईंधन : भारत सरकार द्वारा घोषणा के बाद देश अब BS-VI (भारत चरण VI) ईंधन का उपयोग करने में सक्षम है। इस नियम अस्तित्व में आने के बाद, वाहनों से सल्फर के होने वाले उत्सर्जन में 50% से अधिक की कमी आने की संभावना है। यह डीजल कारों से नाइट्रोजन ऑक्साइड के उत्सर्जन को 70% और पेट्रोल कारों में 25% तक कम करता है। इसी तरह, कारों में पार्टिकुलेट मैटर के उत्सर्जन में 80% की कमी आएगी।

वायु शोधक: वायु प्रदूषण पर अंकुश लगाने के लिए लोग अब वायु शोधक विशेष रूप से इनडोर में इस्तेमाल किए जाने वाले का उपयोग कर रहे हैं। एयर प्यूरीफायर हवा में मौजूद पार्टिकुलेट मैटर को साफ करते हैं, हानिकारक बैक्टीरिया को हटाते हैं और हवा की गुणवत्ता में काफी हद तक सुधार करते हैं।

अपने आस-पास साफ-सफाई रखें : एक जिम्मेदार नागरिक होने के नाते यह हमारा कर्तव्य होना चाहिए कि हम अपने घर के आस-पास के क्षेत्र को साफ-सुथरा रखें। हमें कचड़ा इधर-उधर फेंकने की बजाय कूड़ेदान में फेकना चाहिए।

रिसाइकल और पुन: उपयोग - कई गैर-बायोडिग्रेडेबल उत्पाद जैसे कि प्लास्टिक से बने दैनिक उपयोग की वस्तुएं हमारे पर्यावरण को नुकसान पहुंचाती हैं। हमें या तो इन्हें ठीक से डिकम्पोज करना होगा या इसे रिसाइक्लिंग के लिए भेजना होगा। आजकल सरकार प्लास्टिक को रिसायकल करने के लिए बहुत सारी योजनाएं चला रही है, जहां नागरिक न केवल अपने प्लास्टिक के कचरे को दान कर सकते हैं, बल्कि अन्य वस्तुओं के बदले में इसका आदान-प्रदान भी कर सकते हैं।

प्रदूषण का के मुख्य कारण

जल प्रदूषण-

तेल रिफाइनरियों और परमाणु संयंत्रों से निकलने वाले जल व अपशिष्टों को नदियों और समुद्रों में फेंक दिया जाता है। लगभग सभी मिलों और कारखानों का अपशिष्ट और बचे हुए नदी को नदी में निकाला जाता है।

इसके अतिरिक्त घरों से निकलने वाले नाले भी इन जल स्रोतों में मिला दिया जाता है, जिससे जल प्रदूषित हो जाता है तथा उसमें रहने वाले जलीय जीव मर जाते है.

वायु प्रदुषण-

कल कारखानों, मीलों, वाहनों तथा हवाई जहाजो से निकलने वाला धुआं हमारे वायु मंडल को दूषित करता है. किसी बाहरी कारक के कारण वायु के भौतिक तत्वों में बदलाव आना ही वायु प्रदूषण कहलाता है. मुख्य रूप से धुआ सबसे अधिक वायु प्रदूषण को फैलाता है.

पुराने तथा डीजल से चलने वाले वाहन सबसे अधिक प्रदूषण फैलाते है। डॉ। विबासी ने लिखा है कि हर साल लगभग साठ टन कार्बन ऊपर जाता है और वातावरण में इकट्ठा होता है। वायु प्रदूषण फेफड़ों के कैंसर, अस्थमा जैसे रोग वायु प्रदूषण के फलस्वरूप फैलते है.

नाइट्रोजन ऑक्साइड फेफड़ों, दिल, त्वचा, और आंखों की बीमारियों का कारण बनता है। ओजोन छाती में दर्द , खांसी, और आंख की बीमारी का कारण बनती है।

ध्वनि प्रदूषण-

तेज गर्जन करने वाले वाहन, वातानुकूलित मशीनों और जनरेटर से निकलने वाली कर्णकटू ध्वनि ही ध्वनि प्रदूषण का कारण बनती है। डॉ। विबासी ने लिखा है कि 95 डेसिबल का शोर सिस्टोलिक ब्लड प्रेशर और डायस्टोलिक ब्लड प्रेशर को क्रमशः 7 मिलीलीटर, 3 मिलीलीटर तक बढ़ा सकता है।

भूमि प्रदूषण –

मूत्र और उत्सर्जन के निर्वहन के साथ-साथ यहां-वहां थूकने, कूड़े करकट को कचरापात्र  में डालने की बजाए सड़कों पर कचरा फेंकना, गंदगी और रेत से भरी हवा चलने, इधर उधर कचरा डालना ओवरलोडेड नगरपालिका गाड़ियां और ट्रक भूमि प्रदूषण में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं।

प्रदूषण की समस्या का समाधान-

हमारी जरूरतों के हिसाब से पानी का सावधानीपूर्वक उपयोग करना हमारा कर्तव्य है ताकि कम से कम जल प्रदूषित हो। प्रदूषित पानी को नदियों और समुद्रों में गिरने के बजाय, इसे आबादी वाले इलाके से दूर भूमि के बंजर भाग में प्रवाहित करना चाहिए।

अधिक प्रदूषण फैलाने वाले ईंधन के उपयोग को कम किया जाना चाहिए। समय समय पर अपनी गाडी के इंजन की मरम्मत करवानी चाहिए.

नई बिल्डिंग अथवा फैक्ट्री को आबादी से दूर तथा शौर को कम करने वाले संयंत्रो का उपयोग करना चाहिए. कचरा हमेशा कचरा पात्र में ही डाले. गंदे पानी को जल स्रोतों में कभी न डाले, यदि ऐसा कोई करता है तो इसकी शिकायत करे.

These are called natural sources . Air pollution is most common in large cities where emissions from many different sources are concentrated . The Kyoto Protocol , first adopted in Kyoto, Japan, in 1997, is an agreement between 183 countries that they will work to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions. In the United States, debate is under way about a system called cap and trade to limit emissions. This system would cap, or place a limit, on the amount of pollution a company is allowed.
