If life could only be as simple as following a recipe, we’d all be much happier. However, unlike food based recipes, life doesn’t provide you with standardized ingredients as each lives their unique life.

It means we must ‘cook’ with what we have and see what we can come up with it. Depending on our knowledge of our ingredients and the objective we wish to will establish how difficult it would be to ‘cook up’ our desired results.

However, just like cooking…life has a lot of similarities. For instance, while some people like to follow the recipe to the core, others like to experiment with the ingredients creating their unique take on something that might have been passed down from generation to generation. We can see this as the traditionalist versus the progressive. One likes to keep the way things are while the other doesn’t fear to embark in new terrains.

Neither of these two options is necessarily wrong, especially if the final result remains a tasty dish that will remember.

Now, speaking about my favorite recipe, I think it’s difficult to pinpoint. Similar to life, I like variety however if I were forced to think of my absolute favorite recipe it would have to be my stew.

You see, a stew is just like life, a mix of different elements that come together to make something truly delicious. Additionally, making stew isn’t difficult. It’s almost like making soup except instead of leaving it watery we thicken it up with milk and flour.

Stew – The Dish of Life

I usually make my stew with a wide variety of vegetables, spices and tie it together with a thick sauce. So what you’ll need to make your very own stew will be the following:

  • Two chopped Potatoes or 7 small full potatoes
  • Corn on the cob
  • Green pepper
  • Knorr Beef Broth
  • A half a kilo of beef (chopped in blocks)
  • Assorted Herbs and Spices

The process is quite simple.

First, you fill up a big cauldron with water. Don’t fill it up too much because the vegetables will be taking up space.

Then, you’ll begin to through in all the plants based on how long they cook. I usually dump in the onions, zucchini, potatoes, carrots, corn on the cob and a block of beef broth at first. Then, I wait for about 30 minutes before I dump in the mushrooms, green peppers, garlic, and tomatoes in it.

At this stage, I take out a frying pan and start to brown the meat cubes. It’s recommended to spice the beef cubes before throwing it into the water. Some people like to skip this bit. However, I find that pre-spicing the meat makes it a lot tastier.

Once you have finished browning the meat, you throw it in with the rest of the mixture. Add some salt and pepper at this stage as well.

After about an hour or so, it’s time to thicken the entire dish. The way to do this is to take a bit of flour, like 1/8th of a cup and 3/4th of milk and mix it well. Be sure to get rid of all the clumps of flour in the mixture.

Once mixed, add it to the stew, and you’ll instantly see the color change to a light brownish color. If you want it thicker, just repeat the milk/flour mixture step and add it to the mix. Don’t overdo it either; it needs to be thick, but not so thick it’s solid.

And in about 20 more minutes you should be ready to eat your very own stew.

The Stew of Life

Why do I think stew is most representative of life? Because just like stew, life comes with different elements (people, places, opportunities) and they are all mixed. Some take longer to mature than others, meaning that you need to understand the purpose of each ingredient before cooking.

We learn that certain things synergize. We hear it takes patience to get the right things in life, just like a stew.

Each and every single ingredient is important to achieve the final result. A life fully lived is like a stew that has brewed to perfection, it’s a divine gift we should all enjoy.

I hope that throughout this essay, recipes help us achieve our goals, and while life doesn’t come with a recipe book, we do have teachers, masters, and parents that provide us with some insight. Sometimes we should follow their advice, and at other times we should simply do our own thing. If in the end, your stew tastes as magnificent as your life… you’ve done a spectacular job!

Writing About How Food is Made

Find out everything there is to know about making the food product about which you are writing. Take notes, use legitimate sources and if possible, interview someone directly involved in the production of the food product. Consider all of the ingredients, staff and machinery necessary to make the food you are learning about. You may be writing about how a factory mass produces their brand of food, such as candy bars or toaster pastries, or how a private bakery is run. Ask questions appropriate to your topic.

Before you begin writing, first outline your essay. This will help plan everything you want to write about. Order everything in sequential order, so the reader will clearly understand how the food product is made. Next, write the body of your essay. Each paragraph should be one point or one step in the process to make the food product. Make sure the reader knows everything involved in the process you are writing about.

Finally, write the introduction and conclusion of your essay. It is best to write the introduction after the body, so you understand what you are introducing. An introduction should prepare a reader for your article and possibly give them some background information on the process. The conclusion should summarize all of your main points. Last but not least, go back over your essay and correct any grammatical or spelling errors.

Writing Recipes

Learn everything you can about the recipe you are writing about. Do some research and learn if there are different ways to make the food in the recipe. Make sure you are educated in the cooking methods required in the recipe. It's also important to cook or prepare the recipe yourself. When you have followed the steps you learned, you will understand how best to teach those steps to others, and you might pick up some new cooking skills as well.

Next, write down all of the steps to prepare the recipe. Be sure to write the recipe in chronological order. For example, for recipes that require baking, mention preheating the oven first, so it can be at the proper temperature when it's time to place your dish in the oven. Include a list of necessary ingredients.

Then, you'll be able to write an introduction to the essay. This is best done after you have written the steps, so you know exactly what you are introducing. Try to include background information on the recipe in question.

Finally, write a conclusion to the essay. In this section include any variations to the recipe. If certain ingredients can be exchanged for others, let the reader know. Also, don't forget to proofread your essay at least one more time for spelling and grammatical errors, and fix if necessary.

In order to perform well in life, our body needs energy. We get this energy from the food we eat. Without food, there will be no life. In today’s world, there are so many dishes available worldwide. Food comes in a wide variety all around the world. Dosa, Paneer, Naan, Chapati, Biryani, and more Indian delicacies are available. We are also offered western cuisines such as noodles, pasta, burgers, fries, pizzas and more dominating the food industry. In my favourite food essay, I will tell you about the food I like eating the most.

My Favorite Food

As the world is advancing day by day, it is becoming easier to get access to many kinds of food at our doorstep. Every day, we all want to consume great and delicious cuisine. There are many different varieties of food accessible all throughout the world. We all like different foods, however, my personal favourite is burgers. I have eaten many cuisines but my favourite food is definitely a burger. I cannot resist myself when it comes to burgers.

Burgers are one of the most convenient and easiest foods to eat on the fly when we’re in a hurry. We can have a burger at any time of day, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or supper, and maybe some fries and a Coke to go with it. Many restaurants are well-known for making their speciality burgers in a particular style. Preparation changes from one establishment to the next. But what exactly makes a burger taste so good? They will taste vary depending on where you go, but they are all built the same. It is made up of a bun, a ground meat patty, and various toppings like cheese, onion slices, lettuce, and other sauces.

They are so soft yet crunchy, fresh and juicy that I love eating them. Even though there are many kinds of burgers, my favourite one is a chicken burger. The chicken patty gives the burger a juicy taste and it tingles my taste buds every time I eat it. I can already smell and taste it in my mouth as soon as I walked inside McDonald’s or any other restaurant that serves chicken burgers. As soon as I take a huge mouthful of it, I forget about any problems or troubles that are going on in the outer world and concentrate my entire concentration just on my chicken burger.

I love eating a burger which is filled with cheese and vegetables . The more vegetables you add, the better it tastes. My personal favourite is lettuce. It gives the burger the right amount of freshness and crunchiness.

I always eat my burger with ketchup. Most importantly, the thing I love about eating burgers is that I get to eat French fries along with them. They work as a great side to the dish and also make my stomach full.

Even though I liked eating a burger from a famous fast food joint, nothing beats the chicken burger my mother makes at home. She prepares everything from scratch, even the burger. Thus, it is extremely fresh and healthy too.

I know and feel that burgers have the great flavour and taste that would make anyone’s stomach pleased after a long day of work. I can tell by the reactions on people’s faces when they order their preferred burger variant. Overall, I don’t believe any other fast food will taste as good as a chicken burger. It’s just difficult to think that something will triumph in the future. As a result, I consider my favourite dish to be the best ever created.

A Great Variety

Perhaps the great thing about burgers is the great variety they offer. It has options for all people, who prefer vegetarian, non-vegetarian and even vegans. Thus, you can select the patty of your burger and dive right in.

There are a large number of burger joints being started in every corner of the city, each serving a variety of their own specialised and self-curated recipes. Burgers that are health-friendly and a go-to with a diet are also being introduced by these newly upcoming burger places. There are a lot many burger cafes that give their customers the choice to create their own burgers by providing them with a choice between patties, fillings, veggies, sauces as well as the number of burger layers they want.

Even though my personal favourite is a chicken burger, I also enjoy eating cheeseburgers and vegetable burgers. For me, all burgers taste delicious. Whenever we go out to eat with friends , I always order a burger.

My friends who do not eat non-vegetarian also eat burgers thanks to the great variety it offers. When we order food at home, we make sure to offer all kinds of burgers from cheeseburgers to chicken burgers, so that we get a taste of everything in our meal. Thus, I love burgers and their great variety makes it better.

Conclusion of My Favorite Food Essay

Even though my favourite food is a burger, I enjoy other foods as well like Pizza and Pasta. However, I feel when it comes to eating daily, nothing beats homemade food. The food we eat daily is what helps us gain energy. We cannot eat our favourite food daily as it will become boring then, but our staple food is something we enjoy eating on an everyday basis.

Washington, D.C.'s Capital City Public Charter School feels like a mini United Nations. Many of the school's 981 students are first-generation Americans with backgrounds spanning the globe, from El Salvador to Nigeria to Vietnam. So when the 11th grade teaching team needed to choose a focus topic everyone could relate to and write about, the clear answer was food.

That was four years ago. Since then, English teacher Jill Weiler and her colleagues have joined forces with the staff of the literacy non-profit 826DC , to help students refine their writing (and their recipes), to reach a wider audience.

The process works something like this: Writing coaches ask students to think of a family recipe with a backstory, and then to write an essay around that dish. The recipes (there were a total of 81 last year) and their accompanying stories are compiled into a cookbook of global cuisine with a heartfelt touch, revealing that storytelling may be the most important step in any recipe.

Some students shared tales of beloved dishes, the mere thought of which can make their mouths water. "As the steam from the macaroni rose, the smell seemed as if it had fallen from heaven," writes Mark St. John Pete about his grandmother's macaroni and cheese.

Others focused on less, uh, beloved foods. "I think tamales do not rot because they can be in a fridge for weeks and look the same," says Rolando Fuentes, who lost his taste for bundled packages of corn masa, from his mother's native El Salvador, as a result of what you might call overexposure.

As juniors, many (maybe all) of these students are preparing to head to college. ( Since graduating its first class in 2012, 100 percent of Capital City Public Charter School students have been accepted to college .) Writing these food-focused stories has helped the students become better writers, but it's also forced them to delve into their identities and hone their reporting skills with their families, reinforcing important connections before they leave home.

In order to fill holes in their narratives, many of the young writers had to reach out to older family members for more information. When they didn't know a detail or an ingredient, the writing coaches would encourage them to ask. "We'd say, 'Talk to your dad about it," explains 826 D.C's Lacey Dunham. "And they'd say, 'Well I did talk to my dad. We had a conversation, and he told me all this stuff. I had no idea.' "

On the last day of the project, the students celebrated their accomplishment with a potluck — each bringing in the dish they'd so thoughtfully written about. A few even read their stories aloud.

"It's a fun way to get students to think critically about who they are," says Zachary Clark, executive director of 826DC, "to tell their stories through a mechanism where the outcome is everyone gets to eat."

My mom came to this country on Halloween night in 1990 (she still doesn't understand the purpose of the holiday); it was an experience. She was a petite, wide-eyed 18-year-old Nigerian who had never been out of the country, but who was brave enough to go into the unexpected. She was pushing towards another life outside of what her parents expected of her back home. It was dark and cold, and she felt as if the little children in masks were a projection of what she felt inside. She went to her cousin's house in Rockville, Maryland, and the first thing they tried to feed her was pizza, but she was not having it. There were too many new and unusual flavors that she was not used to, all on one slice that she could not handle it. It just tasted artificial. So she made them go out in the middle of the night to get some okra soup because, after such a long journey to a foreign country, she needed something to remind her of her home and what she was used to. She needed the sliminess of the okra and chewiness of the cow skin to let her know, no matter how far away she was from home, no matter how much things changed, she would always have the comfort that the food would always be the same.

I always helped my mom make nuegados as much as I could ... I would help her peel the yucca with a plastic knife. It took me forever but, you know, safety first. My face would lighten up brighter than the sun when my mom dropped the mushy balls of yucca into the roaring fire. The heat was so intense that over time my mom lost almost all of her lashes. I would help her pack them in bags of five, but I would always take a bite from one of them and put it back in. I called this taste testing for customers, satisfaction guaranteed. My mom would always laugh loudly at my shenanigans, you could hear it from miles away, but she would never get mad. How could I not bite those delicious nuegados itching to be eaten? The smell of the atado de dulce was like a pool of sugar that mixed with my saliva and the rest of the nuegados. (Of course, she took the bitten nuegados out, they had my cooties on them!) Then, after all the food was prepared, my mom would head out to the streets to sell her yummy food to the hungry people.

As a child in junior high school, my mother loved chili. A couple blocks away from her school, there was a concession stand owned by a man named Mr. Steven. Mr. Steven was a skinny African-American man who wore a hat and had a mustache. He was always happy and took pride in his "shop," which was just a small stand. Every day after school, my mom and a couple of her friends would go to Mr. Steven's hot dog stand because he sold the best chili she ever had. He told her that you couldn't get his chili anywhere because it was his wife's homemade recipe.

After becoming an adult and living on her own, my mother was determined to re-create the chili she remembered from Mr. Steven's stand.

In a country filled with many diverse cultures, I always felt like the outcast at school. When there was a potluck for Christmas or Thanksgiving, I was the kid who brought a bag of chips, not because I couldn't bring cooked dishes, but because I lived in a Western culture with a Vietnamese background. I'm in a country mainly dominated by foods my family doesn't normally cook. When I was little, I never ate cereal for breakfast. I would have it as a rare snack, without milk. The few times I brought my culture into the school, I received remarks like, "It looks weird," "It made me want to barf," and "What is that?" ...

One day, two of my close friends came over. They were your average Hispanic-American teenagers. It was mid-July and over 90 degrees outside, around noon. The three of us sat around a small table in the dining room adjacent to the kitchen. Then, my mom brought in cháo for us to eat. The preparations began in my mind. I prepared my mom an excuse as to why they wouldn't eat it. Why I would probably eat most of it. Why I would ask her not to share Vietnamese food with my friends. I watched as they both took a sip of the alien soup. A long silence passed — in reality several seconds — and I hesitantly asked, "How does it taste?" To my surprise they loved it.

Even though I was born on March 26, 1999, I feel as if my life didn't start until I was 5 years old. Although many people go as far as to say that they remember everything since they were in the womb — which, by the way, I find a little unreliable — I do have some memories of when I was a little boy. One of my most vivid memories is drinking atole de elote in a small restaurant in El Salvador near the neighborhood where I used to live. Atole de elote is made out of corn and milk. There are some traditional beliefs that surround the making of atole de elote . It's believed that only one person can stir the a tole de elote or it will taste bad, and that pregnant women and anyone in a bad mood can't stir it because it will make the atole de elote taste bitter.

How I Cook Lasagna — the World’s Most Loved Recipe

Cook bechamel. In a saucepan, melt the butter, add the flour in one gulp and stir well. Add milk and bring to a boil. The mass will thicken. Turn off the fire, add a little nutmeg, and grated cheese. Mix.

Most Italians boil lasagna sheets. Thus, the dish is juicy, without the taste of starch, and this juiciness can be controlled. If you put unboiled sheets, then the sauce will turn out to be more starchy, and most of it will be absorbed into the lasagna sheets. But today, sheets are sold in stores that do not need scalding. So say the manufacturers. I have not tried, but I think, in any case, boiled is better.

In a large pot and in plenty of water, boil the sheets of lasagna. Throw them in a gulp in boiling salted water and slowly help them to plunge completely. Cook for 5 minutes. Drain and fill the pan with cold water. It will immediately become hot, so again we drain and fill it with cold water. Let the leaves stand in the water. Then take out one at a time, and the leaves will not stick together.

I am cooking the lasagna itself. At the bottom of the form, we pour a thin layer of stew. On it put a layer of lasagna sheets. On them put a layer of béchamel and a layer of the casserole. Climbing again and everything else. On the top layer, we do not put sheets, but grated cheese. We cover the form with foil and send it for half an hour to the 190-degree oven. Remove the foil and simmer for another 20 minutes.

It sounds too difficult when you read it, but when you do it for the first time, you get all the tricks. Next time you will be able to do it with your eyes closed. There is also a vegetarian option for lasagna, but, luckily, I am not very fond of replacing meat with zucchini.

The genre of recipe writing is usually thought of a very standardized, reliable set of instructions, always consisting of two parts: the ingredients and the instructions. However, this is an overly simplistic view of this genre. While most recipes are composed of ingredients and directions, sometimes, recipes only include directions (Canora). Additionally, a great recipe is not just a set of directions; instead, great recipes can even tell a story – about a grandma’s Christmas cookies, about a lovely Valentine dinner, or about new motherhood (Perelman).

Generally, though, the form of recipes are first, a set of ingredients, followed by a list of directions, but this has slightly transformed over time. For much of history, most recipes actually didn’t actually specify precisely how much of an ingredient was needed; instead, recipes would call for a “cupful” or a “drop” (Schofield). Nowadays, though, recipes, especially in baking, usually specify a precise amount needed for each ingredient. However, how these quantities are specified can also vary. For example, most of the world tends to use weight measurements (i.e. 400 grams of flour) in recipes while others (mostly the U.S.) measures by volume (2 cups of flour), and some recipes list both for universality. In regards to the preparation method, most directions are listed in short sentences in numerical format, while others prefer an essay method. Furthermore, some recipes’ layout may be vertical-down, while other recipes, especially in recipe books, may include ingredients on the left with the directions on the right. Other text features in recipes may include how much a recipe yields, cooking or prep time, optional ingredients, helpful tips, etc.

Some recipes include a short story or excerpt preceding a recipe, and I believe that this method really adds to the content of recipe writing. For example, Deb Perelman is famous for her cute, relatable family stories in her Smitten Kitchen food blog. Her stories make it clear that her themes in her recipe writing are familial, homey, traditional, and practical. Her writing style and content also makes it clear that her intended audience are parents, families, and practical cooks – both experienced and new. However, other recipes may not need a cute story before each recipe in order to target an audience. For example, in Leanne Brown’s book, she adds an interesting and very helpful feature for each recipe; she lists the total dollar amount needed to make each recipe and also the per serving dollar amount. This clearly targets people on a budget, college students, money-savvy cooks, etc. Thus, already, though there is some continuity in recipe writing, it is easy to see how the recipe genre, a seemingly homogenous form of literature, can actually take on various forms and even contradictions.

It also, therefore, makes sense that there are various reasons why authors write recipes. Some write recipes to pass on memories (perhaps a grandma passing on a family-secret biscuit recipe to her grandchild) or some write recipes to expose others to international cultures (perhaps a writer who blogs about her cooking experiences across Japan). The grandma recipe writer may just compose her recipe literature on a piece of napkin or in a family cookbook, while the travelling recipe writer may write weekly blogs and eventually publish a book. No matter the reason or the audience for a recipe, it is clear the recipe genre goes beyond a set of instructions; instead, it truly is a way to tell a story.

How to Bake a Cake Essay

A cake is often associated with celebrations. While birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and graduation celebrations, among other similar events, are marked with a variety of food and drinks, cakes remain a key component in such events.

There is nothing more meaningful than making your own cake, for your own friends, for your own special occasion. Allow me to share with you my tried-and-tested recipe for chocolate cake. If it’s your first time, feel free to follow it to the letter, then improvise once you are more comfortable.

To bake this sweet cake, you need the following ingredients:

  • a cup of sugar
  • one-half buttermilk
  • half teaspoon baking powder
  • about a cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • an equal amount of room-temperature unsalted butter
  • a quarter teaspoon salt, and a three-quarter cup of flour

For chocolate ice:

  • 200 g of plain chocolate
  • 200 ml of double cream

The Baking Process

To set the scene in the kitchen, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a standard pan with cooking spray, to avoid anything sticking to the pan unnecessarily.

Kick off your baking journey by mixing together your wet ingredients in a bowl: buttermilk, sugar, eggs, butter, and a bit of vanilla extract. Once you have placed all the ingredients together, blend them well with a hand mixer.

Then comes the dry ingredients. Place in another bowl your cocoa powder, salt, baking powder and flour, then stir the mixture slowly but continuously until the ingredients are fully mixed. It is at this point that the dry mixture should be added to the wet mixture. Use a low level to beat the combined mixture until the batter smoothens. The way to check this is to check if the flour is completely dissolved.

Pour proportionately equal amounts of batter into the pans, which should have been greased and floured. Make the most out of the batter and by transferring even the parts that stick to the side of the bowl.

Now it’s time to let the oven do the rest. Put the pan in the oven and let it stay there between 30 and 35 minutes. After checking on your cake every 5 minutes over that duration of time, bring it out and test if it is ready using a toothpick. You know your cake is ready to cool if your toothpick comes out with no remnants of batter.

If more time is needed, you may extend baking time for 2 more minutes, after which the cake should be removed and cooled in pans over the next 5 minutes. It is recommended that they be placed on a wire rack to allow the hot air to escape completely.

One of the last steps involves decoration using frosting or icing. For frosting, ensure that the cake has completely cooled down before applying to avoid the frost melting over the cake.

Alternatively, it can also be iced. Make the icing by placing in the bowl the measured cream and chocolate, then melt them in low heat over a pan filled with hot water. Let the mixture smoothen and thicken by whisking. Afterward, leave it for an hour or two to keep cooling and thickening.

Now, get those blocks nice and loose by passing a round-blade knife through the inside of the tins. Then remove the pieces carefully, spreading a bit of chocolate icing over each cake layer and putting them on top of the other.

Once done, move the finished work to a serving plate completely ice the collective exterior with chocolate icing.

I’ve lost count of how often I’ve made this sleeper hit from Eric Kim — one tub of gochujang equals many, many dinners. It’s delicious, of course, but it’s also very flexible. I usually chop larger potatoes so they’re baby-potato size and sub in whatever greens are on sale (spinach, chard, bok choy) for the Tuscan kale. Like so many cooks, I rarely make the same dish twice. Most of our dinners are a mix of whatever I have in the fridge and a few pantry staples. While I love trying new recipes, the fun comes when I use them as guidelines. This is especially true of grain bowls.

Ahead of Earth Day on April 22, I've been using whole-grain Kernza mixed with other grains. Kernza is the climate-friendly cousin to wheat, and provides tremendous ecological services on farms. The plant's long tap roots help protect our precious waterways, preserve topsoil and shelter pollinators and wildlife. It's such an interesting, nutritious and good-tasting grain that Minneapolis Public Schools is featuring it on their Earth Day menu in celebration of the environmental movement's 54th birthday. Amanda Ewest, the school district's menu administrator, says Kernza's nutty flavor and unique role as a climate-friendly crop make it a great choice for this one-dish meal.

To build your own grain bowl, keep these four basic components in mind: cooked whole grains, seasonal vegetables, protein and a bright textural finish. Give each element enough love that you'll happily eat it on its own. To speed things up, cook a big batch of the grains ahead of time; they'll hold in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to a week, ready to go.

For the vinaigrette, try using hazelnut oil from American Hazelnut Co., another climate-friendly, local food, with a lush, nutty flavor. And fresh herbs are always a great idea.

Big Beautiful Grain Bowl

This recipe starts with a mix of two climate friendly local whole grains — Kernza and wild rice. They're topped with a mix of crunchy mix of sweet bell peppers, shredded carrots and fresh herbs, tossed with a snappy vinaigrette and rounded out with jammy eggs. Vegans may choose to substitute 2 cups cooked chickpeas for the eggs. Store any additional vinaigrette in a covered container in the refrigerator. From Beth Dooley.

For the grains:

• 1 c. wild rice, rinsed

• 1 c. whole grain Kernza (see resource list)

• Generous pinch salt

For the vinaigrette:

• 2 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice

• 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard

• 1/4 tsp. honey, optional

• 1/4 c. hazelnut or extra-virgin olive oil (see resource list)

• Salt and pepper to taste

For topping:

• 2 red bell peppers, seeded and sliced

• 1 small banana pepper, seeded and sliced

• 2 large carrots, scrubbed and shredded

• 1/2 c. chopped parsley

• 4 hard-cooked eggs, peeled

Put the wild rice and Kernza into a large pot and add enough water to cover by 4 inches, along with a generous pinch of salt. Set over high heat, bring to a boil, reduce the heat to simmer, cover and cook until the grains open, about 20 to 40 minutes, checking after 20 minutes. They should be tender but not too soft. Drain and set aside. Turn into a large bowl.

In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, mustard, honey and oil, and season with salt and pepper.

Put the peppers and carrots into a medium bowl. Drizzle enough of the vinaigrette over the vegetables to lightly coat.

Transfer the grains to individual bowls and arrange the dressed vegetables on top of the grains. Set the eggs on top of the grains and season with salt and pepper and a little more vinaigrette, to taste.
